Tea Party-backed Ted Cruz wins Senate race in Texas

Tea Party darling Ted Cruz will take his no-nonsense, small-government message to Washington as the first Hispanic elected to the U.S. Senate from Texas. Cruz's win against Democrat Paul Sadler Tuesday night allows Republicans to keep the seat being vacated by U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.

The race gained national attention when Cruz beat Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, who was backed by the GOP establishment.

The outcome of the two-year campaign for U.S. Senate was a foregone conclusion as Democrats haven't won statewide in Texas since 1994. His challenger Sadler had about 5 percent of what Cruz raised, and was unable to afford to run even a single TV ad hitting all media markets in the state.

Cruz, a domestic policy adviser on George W. Bush's 2000 presidential campaign and solicitor general of Texas from 2003 to 2008, is considered a skilled legal scholar. But this will be his first job in elective office.

We need to start seeking even more hispanics for office. Cruz sounds like a good candidate for president.

Give Dewhurst the Boot in 2014 (((Ping List)))

To be added or removed from this list, freepmail me.
This is a low volume ping list at this time.

Just a reminder that Dewhurst is up for re-election in 2014, and that GOP elite needs to be primaried.

Somebody should point this out to Neal Bortz. He thinks Republicans would have won the white house if we had a moderate. DUDE, ROMNEY IS A MODERATE! McCain was a moderate.

Because we ran a moderate, we lost. And now we are in danger of no longer being the best nation on earth.

I don’t trust Republicans in the House to stand up on the debt limit and shut the gov down. They are way too interested in being on TV, rather than doing their job and ivestigating Benghazi or the response to Sandy or really investigating Fast and Furious (House hearings are dog and pony shows where testimony is submitted in writing before hand by lawyer covering people’s tails).

This President should be facing impeachment and all we get from Republicans, even the tea party republicans we elected to the House, is excuses of why they should not.

As a Texan I am both happy and sad.

We held up our end with Cruz, I just wish a LOT more Tea Party candidates had won.

And of course the whole President thing.

Bittersweet is the word I am looking for.

Cruz and Gohmert, both of which I had the pleasure of voting for, are my only bright spots this morning.

One of the few bright spots in an otherwise dismal day. Texas did our part, but we were let down by the liberals on both coasts. Sad.
