America's coming civil war -- makers vs. takers
Fox News ^ | Published July 12, 2012 | Arthur Herman

Posted on 11/07/2012 3:51:00 PM PST by MinorityRepublican

“A house divided against itself cannot stand.”

Abe Lincoln used those words in 1858 to describe a country that was careening toward civil war. Now we’re a house divided again and another civil war is coming, with the 2012 election as its Gettysburg.

Call it America’s coming civil war between the Makers and the Takers.

On one side are those who create wealth, America’s private sector–the very ones targeted by President Obama’s tax hikes announced Monday.

On the other are the public employee unions; left-leaning intelligentsia who see the growth of government as index of progress; and the millions of Americans now dependent on government through a growing network of government transfer payments, from Medicaid and Social Security to college loans and corporate bailouts and handouts (think GM and Solyndra).

Over the past century America’s private sector has been the source of productivity, innovation, creativity, and growth–and gave us the iPhone and iPad. The public sector has been the engine of entitlement, stagnation, and decline -- and gave us Detroit and the South Bronx.

The private sector built the strongest economy in the world. It armed the free world in World War Two, and then in the three decades after the war turned America into the most prosperous society history had ever seen. It revived America in the Reagan and Clinton years, and thanks to the Bush tax cuts brought this country back from economic collapse after 9/11.

In those same years a growing public sector, by contrast, turned Europe into a cesspool of debt, stalled economies, and chronic social dysfunction that’s set the streets of Athens -- and perhaps other European capitals--on fire.

That’s where we’re headed, too, more rapidly than we like to think.

Is that what you call your cranium?

I gave you the clue, if you were capable of understanding it. The outcomes of the house races, and the presidential and senate races, are statistically incompatible.

One or the other had to be false; which seems most likely to you?

(I realize that you have no understanding of how to approach the problem)

Ever watched 'Bait Car?' Interesting show. Cops put a car out there to be stolen. It has hidden cameras where they can monitor the goings-on and can lock the doors remotely and shut it down and the guy trying to steal the car is trapped. Must have Plexiglas windows, too, because those things take a beating. What I found most interesting on that show is the idea that if the car is in the neighborhood unlocked, then it is theirs. No concept of other people's property rights. The only right versus wrong is whatever you can get away with is right. There is not even any signs of guilt or awareness that what they are doing is wrong.

The geographical boundaries might be drawn differently (urban vs. suburban and rural instead of north vs. south) but there are two distinct cultures. The one I see on Bait Car is as foreign to me as some of the things I see eaten on those Travel Channel shows.

“He’s a real piece of work.”

He’s a real piece of sh*t. The angry idiot that ends up dead in battle because of his belligerence and failure to follow those that know better. Typical Gen-WhyMe? kid.

Okay who has the latest red/blue county map? Let's see how we're going to divide this country up.

This is actually an interesting exercise though I think it would still be a tragedy in reality. Both sides would have to concede something, and I say let the left have the Northeast, Rust Belt, Upper Midwest, Pacific Northwest, and the West coast (yes, all of it). They end up getting Montana and part of Idaho. We get the Southwest, Mountain West, Plains states, Texas, and the South, including Florida. That gives us the Southern half of the East Coast and the Gulf Coast.

You and I are on the same page, with one exception. I believe that when the money runs out, the bullets will start flying and then, regardless of how much our spoiled, pampered, sheltered, fat, lazy, stupid and ignorant population wants to go back to watching TV, they will not be able to deny the state of reality. That’s when the fun begins.

I have been around since Monica was blowing the Clinton in the Oval office. I am no newbie...at all. Nor have I changed my stripes. Ever.

You guys are going around yapping like little poodles about starting a civil war for God’s sake. Yet, when I challenge you to explain how and where you are going to hold this party, I am called a pussy. Yeah, that makes sense.

So, I ask again....exactly what is your plan for launching this civil war. Where will you get the weapons for fighting against tanks, drones, and helicopters? Where will your first target be?

I appreciate you are frustrated with the way the GOP has been run. I get that.

Calling people names is not going to solve anything. At least it hasn’t worked to this point.

You know nothing about me, or my background. I actually do not recall ever interacting with either of your before, so I dont really get what you are talking about, “since he showed up around here.”

So...go back to your cellars and polish your weapons. When you come up with a plan, let the rest of us know. Otherwise, you might want to think before you write.

Good night.

The word is “secession.”

You know what they say -- if at first you don't secede....

You can say that again. Dumb little kid from DU. Here’s his latest FReepmail to me:

I think this is in part correct. I would be interested to see if military people will be willing to talk outside of school about issues such as de facto making queers a ‘protected class’ within the services and about interesting queer activities such as ‘wolf packing’’ and same sex male on male sexual assaults. I am particularly interested in seeing if a violent queer culture starts to emerge in the ranks that officers know is career suicide to firmly oppose and like in the RC church after certain violent queers become to public a problem just shift them to another unit. i know such things were done with blacks who were Black panther or Black Liberation Army or Black Muslim militant and violent types during the 68-71 period.

Fact is most of us never imagined that in our lifetimes something such as this would even be a topic of discussion .

Fact is, some of us have been paying attention for a long time and trying to stop the juggernaut which has led us here.

We have seen how both parties have advanced down the road to totalitarianism, right foot, left foot, each passing measures which would not have been tolerated by the following of the other, which might have led to the flash point.

The frog pot is steaming, and both 'parties' have been stoking the fire, slowly and carefully, always able to blame each other just enough to keep the majority of Americans from seeing through the scam.

Doubt it?

Take a look, without the rose colored glasses of party bias.

There is the Constitution on one side, and our 'two-party' system on the other.

Why else, when the changing winds of political power have ranged from completely favoring one party over the other, have the borders not been controlled? Not since Eisenhower recognized the problem enough to have "Operation Wetback", despite all the alleged advances in technology and fighting more than a half dozen far flung conflicts, has the border been more controlled by a subsequent administration. Even with the creation of entire agencies, with the dodge around the Posse Commitatus act of militarizing domestic police forces and agencies with military tactics and materiel, up to and including drone aircraft and armoured vehicles, not once has an administration been able to claim that it has held more control over our borders than the previous one, but those agencies and their tactics and materiel have been used against Americans.

JFK: The end of School Prayer, the start of Vietnam.

Left foot: LBJ: The Great Society, The War on Poverty, the end of the silver standard, the GCA of '68

Right foot: Nixon: the EPA, the DEA; declared the "war on drugs"; finished off the gold standard (currency no longer pegged to precious metals), opened trade with Communist China.

Left foot: Carter: The original CRA, Inflation

Reagan: Escalating The War on Drugs

Daddy Bush: The 1986 act to deprive anyone but LEOs and Military of new Class III firearms, creating a dual tier society in re the RKBA. First Drug Czar (head of ONDCP) later formalized under Clinton, involvement (official) of the CIA and Military in drug interdiction (graying the line between Military and police). First mention of a New World Order.

Clinton: Revamped the CRA, Government assaults on citizens (Ruby Ridge, Waco), the 'assault weapons ban', denial of terrorist attacks from foreign sources and placing the blame on Americans, starting the meme of the 'bitter clinger domestic terrorist', CARNIVORE, ECHELON, The Gorelick Memo.

GWB: The DHS, TSA, Expansion of domestic policing power at the Federal Level through new agencies; The War on Terror, warrantless wiretaps and monitoring of domestic communications, The subversion of the Constitution for "safety".

Obama: Czars, czars and more czars; Looting the treasury (actually, adding unprecedented debt) to launder money through Unions and other parties; expansion of police state powers usurped by the Patriot Act, seizure of health care, auto manufacturing and other private sector commercial assets, waging war on our ability to produce our own energy through regulations enacted by agencies, incurring unprecedented debt to buy votes.

This is only touching on some of the high points, but anyone who will discard their 'Party" blinders and take a real look will see that even the most revered presidents of the past 60+ years have backed legislation which has undermined the Constitution or set up the framework by which their successors have done so.

What cannot be advanced by the Left has been instituted by the Right, and frankly, I don't care what the parties claim, the damage has been done by both, and always for our 'increased safety' or the most humanitarian reasons.

Unless and until people are willing to discard the pep-rally 'he's a good guy because he is a _____ party member' crap, and realize an pig can call itself an eagle, this will continue until we have no Republic--and we're close now. The founders would not recognize the leviathan we call government--it far exceeds their worst nightmares.

In the current political atmosphere swarms of the uninformed will go vote for the pig because it said it is an eagle, or because the newsreaders on the TV told them so. Until it becomes something where people will look more deeply than the color of the jersey the players are wearing, and see who is doing what with the ball, we all lose.

Interesting anecdote about blacks in the army (I assume) in the late 60’s time frame. Not surprising. I would see the Amercal division blacks lounging around openly in Chu Lai getting stoned in 68. Outside their hootches on the main road. No one seemed to do anything about it. I was USMC, so we just took it as the usual army routine (SNAFU). Guess it got worse after my time.

How the Marines are dealing with homos these days would be interesting to us aging VN vets. We would have to understand they were brought up through the liberal school system and have a far different starting point than we had.

I know! We’ll spread the idea of secession through the public schools and media we control. Oh right.

No, we can plant the idea in red state political leaders' minds so that they seriously consider how to accomplish it.

Quit trying to win a popularity contest among people in a television induced coma. You can't lead and constantly ask permission at the same time.

My point is in order to move leaders in red states there must be a huge grassroots push for secession. That isn’t possible while the left educates children in government schools and controls most of the media.

No, both times it happened the majority didn't want it.

Once the avalanche has started the pebbles don't get to vote.

The democratic party is going to continue to ratchet up their divisive rhetoric and continue the divide the country because it works for them. Abasing ourselves before them will only invite more of the same.

Eventually they will lose control of it and have no choice but to ride the wave of French-revolution style violence. Listen to Obama's top political advisers and his own rhetoric. We are a lot closer to it than you realize.

You can't have a grassroots effort form with that kind of marginalization going on. By the time most people realize what is about to happen it will be too late. Floating the proposition of going our separate ways does two things: 1) It provides an non-violent outlet for those that fervently hate us and 2) it shows both parties how serious the situation is getting.

The left can never allow secession. From their perspective their utopia can not be realized without producers. They will never allow us to just walk away my friend.
