FBI probe of Petraeus triggered by e-mail threats from biographer, officials say

The collapse of the dazzling career of CIA Director David H. Petraeus was triggered when a woman with whom he was having an affair sent threatening e-mails to another woman close to him, according to three senior law enforcement officials with knowledge of the episode.

The recipient of the e-mails was so frightened that she went to the FBI for protection and help tracking down the sender, according to the officials. The FBI investigation traced the threats to Paula Broadwell, a former military officer and a Petraeus biographer, and uncovered explicit e-mails between Broadwell and Petraeus, the officials said.

Something to keep in mind here is that the networks and cable news channels are going to see their ratings decline considerably now that the election is over. This is the sort of thing that will help attract viewers who otherwise would have been doing something else with their time.

For all we know this woman could have been his wife. “Basic Instinct” comes to mind. Or it could be more disinformation

“Also interesting that WaPo got this piece of info.”

Also interesting that every jot and tittle conforms to the almost-certainly mendacious account of events provided by the WH, i.e., that the president/WH didn’t hear of this until after the election etc.

Moreover, this version of events is sharply counter to other versions, i.e., that this investigation had been going on many months, that it was triggered by concerns that a reference to something going on “under the table” was potentially a reference to corruption, when it turned out to be nothing more than a reference to sex etc. etc.

Anyone buying this WaPo version of events should recall the early days of Lewinsky and how misinformation was put out right and left by the WH. When the full truth comes out about Petraeus, I’m guessing half this WaPo story turns out to be a pack of lies.

The classic story of two people caught in a honey pot. Petraeus as the Bear and Broadwell as the Pot.

Seriously, since this was known back in September when Petraeus tried first to resign, do you think he was compromised into testifying before Congress that Benghazi was sparked by the video when all along he knew otherwise?

When your pants are down, you just can’t run fast enough to get away from extortion.

Kind of makes you wonder how the U.S. ever managed to become the most powerful country in the world, when so many things are run like Keystone Kops operations like this.

We were not always run by this amoral crap mob of modern day. They are bringing the country down. Economically, militarily, socially, legally - in every way. They are too corrupt and self serving to do otherwise.

When I saw the Jon Stewart video interview with this biographer, I got the sense she had the ego and values of an stunted attention whore porn queen from a rough neighborhood. She graduated from the Naval Academy and was an officer. Aren’t we lucky. /s/

For what it’s worth to this discussion, the Charlotte Observer early 2012 article about the author includes a mention of a Washington Post “journalist” named Vernon Loeb who “helped” write the book.

Given the 0ministration’s lying about Ben Gazi and just about everything else, how do we know that this is not just more disinformation?

The United States government may not be that great when it comes to integrity and competence, but we’re better than just about any other country in the world.

During the election, Petreus gave off signs of being unwilling to stick to the stupid Bengazi narrative to the very last micrometer.Questions then loomed forward in the mind of Vallerie Jarrett about what Petreus might then say —maybe something really, really explosive.

So with the Secret Sex Card having been tucked away for months, they whip it out and PLAY IT; the heavily invested presstitutes gang-bang it for a couple weeks, and by that time Petreus’ reputation is totally destroeyd.

THEN when he blabs about the full enormity of Bengazi NO ONE LISTENS.

Oh suuuure THIS is how the FBI discovered the affair, OH SURE I BELIEVE THAT...!

1. The media has no issue with understanding the risk to national security of the CIA director having an affair, but the same people thought nothing of Slick Willy nailing a teenager in the oval office.

2. We now have more reporting from the Socialist Media about how this will affect testimony on Bengahzi, than we have about the deaths at Bengahzi.

The Socialist Media is the enemy. They ARE the domestic enemy that oaths are made to combat. The media must be defeated.

The people at the highest levels of our federal government are truly a passel of sick puppies.

Yep. It's the logic of keeping Austin around. We can keep 'em all in one place where we can keep an eye on 'em.

Launch, and nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

I was thinking the exact same thing, sounds a lot like the NASA astronaut.

The other articles stated that it was Petraeus who was sending all the emails, after the woman dumped him, though.
