Anyone who would have an affair with the head of the cia and expect to keep it on the QT is a remarkable idiot.

Frankly, I think that this sex scandal is much ado about nothing. It’s nothing that doesn’t go on every day of the week with powerful men and the adoring sycophants that follow them.

Petraeus is abit of a nerd and not particularly good looking, either. His professional success probably went to his head, and when ditzy women started acting like groupies, he couldn’t resist .

The FBI says no security breech occurred and no law was broken, but the White House still requested Petraeus’ resignation on election day. It looks to me as punishment for refusing to throw himself under the Obama re-election bus, by backing the Benghazi lie.

Thanks for the Peace.

I agree with what you just said, at my age I didn't just fall off the turnip truck.

These things go on all the time. Put a piece of "available" asp near one of them, they can't stop themselves. Petraeus found that piece of "available asp", so conveniently placed/planted at his disposal.

My only point is no matter what the wife looks like, (and frankly I will never understand why wives let themselves go, lonliness I think is the biggest problem) but nevertheless, the "good" wife is NEVER to blame, and I did say "GOOD WIFE", not tramp wife.

By her appearance I have to think she was a "good, loyal" wife and mother. jmo

With her feet in the air. Like the little Johnny joke about the feet getting to heaven first.

I think you have it right.

CJ Roberts likely gave in to blackmail because he didn’t want to end up like Petraeus. I wonder how long he can hide whatever he is hiding. Of course, he is not a political appointee who can just be fired.

I mentioned it to one of my daughters this morning- she usually keeps up with the news. My daughter knows who Patreaus is but had heard none of this...she didn’t see any news this weekend, watched football with her boyfriend...

Dumping things on Friday news seems to work pretty well, and most don’t care about the news anyway. Ughhh.

I remember keeping up with the Vietnam War news and Watergate, as a young person, maybe I am just odd. Even when my children were little and kept me very busy I kept a radio on so I would know what was going on in the world.

No wonder the election turned out like it did. How can we reach people that don’t care and get most of their info from friends, FB, comedy shows, etc?

About the ONLY thing that makes sense in the whole Benghazi Affair— including the abandonment of 41 people to be slaughtered — is that people are concerned enough about their health & well-being to be taking extraordinary self-protection measures (e.g., hire expensive crisis mgmt teams & lawyers, publicly defend family members, self-incriminate about sordid affairs in public, etc.).

I haven’t seen this level of excitement in D.C. since Lewinsky found the Clinton Death List on her office chair.

Interesting....I was on active duty fro 24 years and never saw any evidence that “all the sex around the military is frequent and depraved”.

Did these things happen? Of course, though I suspect at about the same rate as in the civilian world.

To claim that “all the sex around the military is frequent and depraved” undermines whatever point you might have been trying to make.

And FWIW, at this point it seems that this affair started after both had left active duty.

While I am in full agreement, this is not a popular opinion around here. Frankly, I think the conservative cause is hopeless because of this kind of reaction. I don't even know what it means anymore - the conservative cause. Because of the internet we know lots of things we would not have known before. More information does not mean more wisdom.

Cover up or not, Petraeus should have known, if ya throw out a piece of raw meat, flies will land on it.

He jeopardized U.S. security, his position, honor and his wife.

I don’t understand? How did she let herself go? She’s old, like her husband. She looks her age. Yes, she can’t compete with some younger woman, but then, she isn’t one.

Are you saying she’s too fat?

Her hairstyle can be glamored up?

She could get plastic surgery? Botox shots? Nancy Pelosi’s private surgeon?

Please explain...

MM: FYI ping
Miss Magnolia: From your article (thanks for posting)

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324073504578113460852395852.html
[Reporters: EVAN PEREZ, SIOBHAN GORMAN and DEVLIN BARRETT]

According to WSJ, we learn several “facts” I haven’t seen before:

The FBI investigation began with five to 10 emails beginning around May and received by Ms. Kelley,

Petraeus used a pseudonym to establish [g-mail acct]

They matched the places, including hotels, where Ms. Broadwell was during the times the emails were sent.

Some appeared to be accusing her of an inappropriate relationship but didn’t name Mr. Petraeus. Agents determined the emails were sent from an account shared by Ms. Broadwell and her husband

During Ms. Broadwell’s first interview in September, she admitted to the affair and turned over her computer

On her computer, investigators found classified documents,

The affair ended more than four months ago, though Mr. Petraeus continued to advise Ms. Broadwell on her research

In the old disbanded America, this man would have been too ashamed to speak out at all. He would have tried to go into hibernation.

Without his wife’s military connections I doubt his career would have been what it was, her connections got him in very good with the right people in the beginning. Look up her dad, General William Allen Knowlton. Petraeus married very well for his career, may have married her for that reason.
