He cited FEMA. Unless your state can live without FEMA basically you can stuff the secession stuff. LOL. The secession issue really can bring out someone's true colors.

It’s a complete waste of time and effort. No state will leave.

Well freedom fans, Glenn thinks the hundreds of thousands who e-signed the various peaceful secession petitions are crazy.

Don't usually pay any more attention to him than any of the other blabbering fools but in this instance, he's right

He also asked if you really wanted your name on a list that the government can look at and declare you an enemy of the state.

I agreed w/ Glenn on one point. I wouldn’t want my name on ANY list that is kept by THIS White House......considering Obama’s love for drones and ‘punishing his enemies’.

Beck can secede by moving offshore, most of us do not have that luxury.

EVERY state can live without FEMA. Do you realise all FEMA is is a check writing agency writing checks on our own money?

We are just as capable of writing our own emergency checks.
The only reason our state leaders want FEMA checks instead of personal responsibility is that we will be forced(by Washington) to finance FEMA either way.

We are perfectly capable of financing our own disaster relieve as every state did prior to the 1970’s. Its just a lone and most State Constitutions still contain the mechanistic for taking out the loans.

I signed every one of the state petitions. Just probably my first of many things of civil disobedience I will be doing from here on out. Will anything come of it? No. But it does allow me to do something to possibly anger Dear Leader and I am all for that. Also it shows state governors they need to grow a spine and seek 10th amendment solutions.

Well, between the debt timebomb and the confirmation that we’ve reached the tipping-point where the “takers” have overtaken the “makers,” it’s a signal that America’s future is in grave question. Add amnesty, and it’s truly game-over. Might as well consider the variety of post-America scenarios, including secession.

Won’t it just be easier for him to say, if you don’t lock step march with me you are crazy?
Doing that sure would save him some time.

I think they're crazy, to, for signing a petition from which they can be easily tracked. I prefer to think of it not as secession, but as a dissolution of the political bonds that (used to) bind us all together as Americans.

It is clear to me that liberals and conservatives no longer agree, even remotely, on what the America Experiment and Dream and Constitution are. I believe it is in the interest of both sides to go their separate ways.

You know, that’s actually a pretty good point, that “live without FEMA” thing. Look at all the folks in the Hurricane Sandy area who could not live without FEMA for three days. When you have no water, no food, only the clothes on your back, no cash, no credit card, no car, no nothing - then you need FEMA within three days. So what does it take to get into that condition?

It’s not so unusual for folks to not have more than three days of water, or even food, and if your house is destroyed, it’s easy to get there. But for somebody to have no cash and no credit and no resources at all, it sounds like they were dependent on the government in the first place. If you were living day to day, and from government check to govt check, when the rug gets pulled out from under you, there’s nothing left.

Somebody needs to ask Beck if a state *CAN* live without FEMA, does that make the idea of secession okay, or is there some other criteria next?

I didn’t hear the fema thing. The part I heard made me think he called them crazy because he was leary about handing one’s name into the Obama regime. It would be interesting to see if there is a higher % of irs audits and other fed investigations among people who signed it in the coming years.

Some perspective:

Executive Order 12127
President Carter’s 1979 executive order merged many of the separate disaster-related responsibilities into the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

As of October 8, 2011, FEMA has 7,474 employees across the country

Efforts like this always make the people organizing and supporting them look like extremist idiots, or sore losers at the very best. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a liberal interest behind this effort to make conservatives appear to be mentally-unstable crybabies.

Why? Because they weren’t crying when they signed it?

Not a Beck fan to begin with, but after the election when he said, and I quote, “Sometimes God really s##ks”, he disgusted me.

One of his fans here on FR tried to defend it and justify it to me, but there is no defense for those words.
