Let's get Pelosi to tell him to step down.

He'll roll over and die then.

Maybe they should just save us the drama and eventual humiliation when they cave in two months, and just cave in now and get it over with.

Utter BS.

Its like when your local government claims they will keep property tax rates from going up...but then increase assessments so you wind up with a tax increase while they can claim they held rates in check.

President Obama and Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said it was unlikely that eliminating loopholes and capping deductions could raise enough revenue to gain their support.

This just tells us they are ONLY interested in THEIR
solution, not solving the problem.

“...but President Obama and Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said it was unlikely that eliminating loopholes and capping deductions could raise enough revenue to gain their support”

This is complete and utter horsecrap! They aren’t interested in raising revenue! They want to raise taxes just to PUNISH people! The Dem party’s whole tax philosophy is “Let’s Get ‘Em!” It’s torches and pitchforks!

“Republicans say they will not back down”

Translation:
The Republicans will back down.

Of all the issues facing the country, I don’t understand why Republicans are drawing the line on tax increases. They would pass amnesty in a heartbeat if they thought they could get away with it, and they have no apparent desire to stand firm on any of the social issues. Yet, they’re ready to fall on their swords to stop tax increases. Why is the Republican Party spineless on everything but taxes, especially when they can’t or won’t reform government spending in any significant way and cave on the debt limit?

It seems no one has much faith in him. Anyone want to make a prediction on the date that he finally caves in?

Surely Republicans can find someone far better than the sissy Boehner, his guy killed the tea party enthusiasm of 2010 with his guless leadership.

Sounds to me some of those tough young GOP turks (Tray Gowdy, Jason Chaffetz, etal.) may have jammed a ramrod right down Boehner's gullet in a meeting.

I'd hate to have those guys (who are doing a real number on Obama vis a vis Bengahzi) give ME their steely-eye.....I'd cave in a freeper minute!

We must never forget that it was Mister* Boehner who traded away 500 billion in precious defense dollars for ... essentially some magic beans (to arrive at a later date, number may vary, may be substituted for beans with little or no magic associated, and may or may not involve actual beans.)

Mister Boehner has absolutely no gift for bargaining, and no sense of the consequences of serious errors. Any casino would just LOVE to see Mister Boehner walk through their door.

*I say "mister" as opposed to "Speaker of the House", because SOH is so far above his abilities.

(Full disclosure, I liked this post fro a previous thread so much that I re-cycled it.)

A possible type of response Republicans can make to President regarding raising taxes on the rich:

“We want to do anything and everything possible to solve the problems of this country. Show us how your proposed tax hikes on the rich will really fix our economic problems. If you can do this with real numbers, we will agree. However, we are not here to target one section of the population and simply raise their taxes to get revenge on them or out of envy.

This is the only way conservatives can win (marginally). 1. Pass a bill making the Bush tax cuts permanent.
Let the democrats defeat it and blame them for increasing taxes on everyone.
2. Do nothing and let the sequestration cuts take effect.
Sure the military will get cut, but do we really want Obama using it anyway?
3. Refuse to pass any debt ceiling extensions.
Force the government to cut services. Who really gives a crap what services are cut. We don't need any of them.

I dunno guys. The way politics works these days...

I wonder if those that say just give the dems what they want and step back and make them own it.

The alternative may be a House revolt, government shut down, we get blamed and lose the house and they get what they want anyway.

I don’t envy Boehner or the House leadership one bit.
