"This is primarily because blue states on average are wealthier than red states."

...but is that really true any more? I don't know. I do know that Americans are fleeing CA, NY, and other blue-bastions in droves. Same with businesses; a trend that has been going on for years.

Average income of the different states is pretty easy to find. They change pretty slowly.

Interestingly, the rank order varies pretty dramatically between median household income and per capita income.

For instance, Florida is #6 in per capita income and #37 in median household income. I expect the logical explanation is the smaller average size of a household in Florida, perhaps due to the large number of retirees.

I discovered this morning 900,000 people have left The Peoples Republic of Illinois over the last 15 years. I am soon to be another one.
