WASHINGTON (AP) For nearly six years, a senior Secret Service agent kept his extramarital affair with a Mexican woman a secret from the agency responsible for protecting the president.
But in the wake of an embarrassing prostitution scandal involving 13 agents and officers, Rafael Prietos secret was revealed by a fellow employee amid concerns the Secret Service wasnt enforcing its rules consistently. With an internal investigation ongoing, Prieto apparently committed suicide last week, people familiar with the matter told The Associated Press.
Prieto, a married father assigned to the security detail for President Barack Obama, admitted the years-long relationship with a woman from Mexico to U.S. investigators when confronted. Before his death, he was the subject of an investigation focused on whether he violated agency rules that require disclosing relationships with foreigners, those familiar with the matter said. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss Prietos death or the investigation.

Guy sounds like a real genius.
I wonder how many other of these characters are mentally unstable
I heard they found one in Miami passed out drunk on the sidewalk last night, the guy punched the local cop in the face when he tried to cuff him.
It is a scorched earth mentality where one tries to mitigate their own transgressions by saying everybody does it. I saw a heinous case of this once in the military where a guy tried to take everybody with him over a flat hattting incident where damage was done to civilian property. This idiot claimed everybody in his unit did it. That argument didn’t hold up since he was the only guy that clipped a powerline that wasn’t very high off the ground.
If his secret was so deep and dark to him that it caused him to kill himself when it was revealed, then yes, it posed a HUGE security threat.
Dumbass couldn’t have even taken a certain Iranian born POS bitch “power behind the throne” with him...
What a damn loser!
Obama only hires the compromised. athat you can be certain.
Then again, it might be a Kenyacide. And the threat to security was the threat to Obama’s personal secrets.
As I understand it, insurance does not cover suicide.
Rules for Secret Service but not for the president?
There is usually a two year exclusionary period. It may be a bit shorter or longer, but it does pay off after the exclusionary period.
Evidence that may have come out in questioning but the witness is now dead. How convenient.
Eight of those Secret Service employees have been forced out of the agency, three were cleared of serious misconduct and at least two are fighting to get their jobs back.
The scandal prompted Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan to issue a new code of conduct that barred employees from drinking within 10 hours of the start of a shift or bringing foreigners to their hotel rooms.
But going to brothels will be okay, right, Mr Sullivan?
I remember when you were required to be morally straight because of the danger of being compromised by the enemy. Now...not so much. When our enemies work within the powers of our government, guess we lost that ideal.
