NBC sportscaster Bob Costas used his weekly monologue on “Sunday Night Football” to discuss the fallout of the tragedy in Kansas City, urging viewers to move past the cliched coverage of the “perspective” gleaned from the news that linebacker Jovan Belcher killed his girlfriend and then himself Saturday morning.
Costas focused much of his monologue on a column by Fox Sports’ Jason Whitlock, which argued that “current gun culture simply ensures that more and more domestic disputes will end in the ultimate tragedy.” Costas said that although he often doesn’t agree with Whitlock, he found his argument to be spot on this time.

With all the misbehavior of our athletes, I fear that this is just the beginning in blaming guns. Heck, professional sports is full of thugs, so this just makes total sense that they will have a platform for years to come. Have to admit I never saw this one coming.

At least, he did the taxpayer a favor by not keeping him fed, clothed and entertained for the rest of his life.

What is it about liberals and why are they so totally clueless??? The 2nd Amendment is there to protect the first and ultimately to protect us from a tyrannical government. Whether you own a gun or not, you have the right to defend yourself and a right to own a firearm. If you use it for illegal and/or nefarious purposes, that’s on YOU and not the gun. I mean, really now — this isn’t complicated to understand! But maybe it is for the liberal mind and perhaps that’s why they’re so confused...? Just not smart enough to parse it properly...?
Someone once said that liberals have issues with foresight - or the ability to see long term effects and causes and that’s they they think the way they do. They need to have some kind of political instant gratification always. I really think that might be true— like a cognitive defect. Or maybe not so much a defect as a part of one’s thinking that simply hasn’t been “massaged”. Ok, I’m rambling. Hey this is good coffee!!

It needs to be turned around to a narrative about glorifying drug users in professional sports. That’s the real story here not guns.
The worst of it is, Costas will come to work today patting himself on the back for ‘taking a stand’ and providing ‘edgy and relevant commentary’.
Of course, we know better (and Sunday Night Football’s Facebook page was inundated last night to show it), but NBC won’t do anything and in the end, the drones who can’t do without their Sunday night fix will be right back there next week watching the next game.

If Jovan had been a ‘civilian’ and went to the parking lot and offed himself in front of the Coach and GM, it would have made page 3.
Coach and GM will ‘ride’ this tragedy to keep their jobs - despite a dismal showing by the KCC this year.
Can’t ‘fire’ someone that had the trauma of witnessing a tragedy now can we????
