Man applied for pistol permit before deadly stabbings in Wyoming

The Vernon Police Department said a 25-year-old man from the town, who is believed to be responsible for killing his father and another woman in Wyoming, applied for a pistol permit before the murder.

Police said Christopher Krumm stabbed his father, Jim Krumm, 56, a computer science teacher and his father's girlfriend Heidi Arnold, 42, who was also a professor at Casper College, a Wyoming community college, on Friday morning.

According to police, Christopher Krumm first stabbed Arnold, who was his father's girlfriend, at the home he lived at with his father before going to the college.

Investigators said the 25-year-old then went to the school's campus and shot his father with a bow-and-arrow in front of a group of students in the Wold Physical Science Building.

Police said Jim Krumm tried to fight off his son while students escaped. Christopher Krumm then stabbed himself several times before fatally stabbing his father in the chest, police said.

Vernon police said Christopher Krumm had applied for a gun permit in October. The permit was still pending at the time of Friday's double murder.

"(Chris) Krumm was fingerprinted and his completed application was collected," said Vernon Police Lt. William Meier. "The application was still pending at the time of this incident and no permit had been issued to Krumm."

Vernon police along with the Hartford Bomb Squad searched Christopher Krumm's apartment on Friday night. No hazardous devices were found in the unit.

Thankfully he didn't have a gun and therefore couldn't kill anyone. Oh wait.

We need more laws. That will stop the killing.

Did he have a permit for the knife and bow and arrow?

Why didn’t he get a gun?

We need more regulations.

They should just make murder illegal. That would cut down on violence.

Proving once again that if someone has murder on their mind a gun isn’t the only weapon of choice.

By the way how did he kill his father and another woman, was his father transgendered?

It is a good thing he didn’t get a pistol permit. Someone could have been seriously hurt.

Somebody notify Bob Costas that for the first time EVER, someone was murdered and committed suicide WITHOUT a gun! He might want to re-think his position now that we have confirmation of this amazing, first-time event!

More importantly - and seriously - condolences to the family(s) concerning these events. Their losses were great and horrific in this manner.

Shouldn’t this headline read

“Man tired of waiting for gun permit, murdered his fathers girlfriend by stabbing, then killed him using bow and arrow”.

Of course his lawyer will claim the guy is law abiding because he didn’t SHOOT them as he had no permit.

No permit meeded to buy handgun in Wyoming.

Again, NO PERMIT NEEDED TO BUY HANDGUN IN WYOMING.

What was the purpose of the title other than sensational anti-gun retoric?

That was my first thought.

I don’t need a permit in Indiana to buy a gun, just to carry it legally.
