Conservatives bite back at House GOP leadership over purge (Boehner channels Stalin)
Wash Post ^ | 12/5/12 | Rachel Weiner

Posted on 12/05/2012 10:33:44 AM PST by jimbo123

Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) took a public shot at House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) Tuesday night, in the wake of a shake-up that knocked a small group of conservatives off prominent committees.

Justin Amash ✔ @repjustinamash Still waiting for call from GOP leadership. Are they too embarrassed to explain they booted me for working to reduce debt? 4 Dec 12 ReplyRetweetFavorite

Amash, a libertarian-leaning conservative, was taken off the House Budget Committee. Tea party-backed Rep. Tim Huelskamp (Kan.) was taken off Budget and Agriculture. Reps. Walter Jones (N.C.), a rare moderate, and David Schweikert (Ariz.) lost their spots on the Financial Services Committee. Amash, Huelskamp and Schweikert were all first elected in the 2010 Republican wave.

Everyone that voted to enable the GOP when they ran a liberal candidate is responsible for what is going to happen.

“Everyone that voted to enable the GOP when they ran a liberal candidate is responsible for what is going to happen.”

With that same logic, what are those people that sat on their lofty, self-serving egos and didn’t vote? What responsibility do they have in this.

I say they have no dog in this fight, they didn’t vote so they should watch what comes out of their egotistic mouths. At least the ones that did vote tried to stop the complete take over by the marxist.

Do you really think this would be happening if Romney had won? The political atmosphere would be much different. These people, for the most part, live to stay in office. Go along, get along...it is rather amusing to watch the Republican Party imploding.

Maybe there’s a bright side to all this. Since the great majority of House Republicans are strongly against tax increases, many having signed a pledge to that effect, if John Boehner were to agree to raise taxes on the rich now, he would not be able to continue as House Speaker. He might not even be able to enter the Republican section of the House in the future without being protected by a full suit of body armor.

So there are two possibilities: If John Boehner is an honorable, principled Republican, he will not agree to a tax increase on the rich; and, if he’s a slimy self-serving political hack, he won’t agree to a tax increase on the rich either, since he won’t want to lose his House Speakership.

If John Boehner caves, it will be a surprise, but if the House Republicans also cave and endorse John Boehner’s betrayal, it will be such a shock that there will no alternative for Conservatives except to start their own party. Which could be another bright side to all this.

How many Republicans vote for Obamacare?

Romney and Ryan said they were going to get rid of Obamacare but that wasn't good enough for Freepers so we are stuck with what we have. Freepers helped elect Romney and now they're bitching about Boehner not negotiating to their liking with the one they helped elect. Go figure.

Romney was elected? How did I miss that?

I don't know any that didn't vote. Some voted for someone besides the socialist D and the liberal R.

Besides, who came up with that 'if you didn't vote you can't complain' rule? 7 year olds?

That's either a Freudian slip, and you know you were trying to sell a liberal all along, or it's time for your meds.

“Freepers helped elect Romney and now they’re bitching about Boehner not negotiating to their liking with the one they helped elect. Go figure.”

Do you mean helped elect Obama? I hear you. It’s annoying that those who didn’t bother to vote against him complain about the continuation of his destructive policies.

But the fact is that the Republican members of the “arrogant capitol” cabal are heavily complicit in the D.C. spending orgy that has brought us to this pass. Their track record speaks for itself, so it’s no wonder many of us have low expectations in regard to Boehner and company’s vaunted concern about the “fiscal cliff” and their political competence vis a vis Obama.

Thanks for being reasonable. When Congressman Steve King tells me to get hysterical and to tar and feather Boehner, I’ll get on board but until I get something more concrete than what we have now, I’ll wait.

When Congressman Steve King tells me

Who is it, then, that's locked into group think and needs someone to tell them what to do?

Some of us decide things for ourselves and don't rely on notes from the party on who to support, and who to pillory.

I'm old enough to remember Stalin and his killing of millions.

Well then you should also remember there were a whole lot of people who either knowingly or unwittingly helped Stalin rise to power to kill the millions. Perhaps history will show Boehner to to be an unwitting accomplice.

I guess I missed the posts on this thread that suggested that we "tar and feather Boehner". Perhaps you might point them out.

I won't be rushing to find a fire hose, that's for sure.

This website has gone nuts. Jim Robinson, either suijuris, or I should be banned because one of us is crazy.
