Ellen isn’t an in-your-face, obnoxious, aggressive, and stupid lesbian, like (for instance) Rosie O’Donnell.
There is nothing about sex in the ad, no mention of it or hint of Ellen's personal life
To be enraged because a prominent lesbian actress gets
a commercial gig is akin to McCarthyism and makes us ALL look BAD
So what now- no homosexual actors or actresses are supposed to be hired anymore?

The new JC Penney CEO has overtly gone pro-gay in everything This ad is not “overt” but it is still part of the pattern. Ellen was hired BECAUSE she is a prominent homosexual, which continues the Penney pattern.

Years ago, Ellen had a cute, funny and, as far as I remember, clean, sitcom; but as soon as she got any celebrity status, it seems she just immediately came out with the “agenda”. - Why can’t they just SHUT UP about who she “sleeps” with; it is the most fickle and boring subject one could imagine? - At that time, she was involved with a cute little blonde starlet who was evidently confused about her preferences. The girl (don’t remember her name) showed up one night out in a residential area having been (allegedly) thrown out of the house she shared with Ellen. The girl later married a guy.
I agree. This sort of thing seriously hurts our cause, in my opinion. But maybe it’s already lost, in this regard.
Either way, I don’t like the hate. My disgust over homosexuality is irrelevant, and God willing will remain directed at the sin and not the sinner.
I don’t mean to point out motes in eyes and so on, just that it is easy to forget and I like to remind myself.

I agree. The mere presence of lesbian doesn't sell homosexuality. Aside from her somewhat butch haircut, there's no indication she's a lesbian. Who cares?
Yea, that's a winning corporate strategy for a company which lost $152m last year: let's appeal to the 4-5% of the population that is LGBT and turn off the vast majority of folks who are tired of having people's sex lives put front and center of every TV show and advertising campaign.
