Half of America: I'd kill to protect my own
WND ^ | December 09, 2012 | Bob Unruh

Survey reveals stunning attitudes about surviving in catastrophe

Editor’s note: This is another in a series of “WND/WENZEL POLLS” conducted exclusively for WND by the public-opinion research and media consulting company Wenzel Strategies.

Nearly half of Americans would expect serious, sustained life-threatening civil unrest within two weeks of a major catastrophe, such as an EMP attack that would destroy electronics, according to a new poll.

Another huge percentage say they would expect further deterioration after two weeks, but for many, that development would be irrelevant, because they expect they would be dead by then.

The sobering the new poll by Wenzel Strategies, a public-opinion research and media consulting company, also shows a stunning number of Americans say they would be willing to kill a neighbor under such circumstances.

The poll, conducted Nov. 28-Dec. 3 with a margin of error of 3.14 percentage points, showed 58 percent of Americans would be somewhat or very willing to kill someone if a member of their family was threatened with attack during an emergency.

But that would be because 50 percent expect that within two weeks of a catastrophic emergency, their home, person or family member would be physically attacked by someone desperate for food, money or commodities like gasoline.

Remarkably, 21 percent said they would survive without services provided by electronic power less than a week and another 28 percent believed they could last less than two weeks. Three in four Americans say they would be dead in two months.

Read the facts about the real threat to the U.S., in “A Nation Forsaken – EMP: The Escalating Threat of an American Catastrophe.”

Fritz Wenzel, president of Wenzel Strategies, told WND: “Our survey shows that, in the face of this reality,

Remember, the writers of these articles cannot say what the ACTUAL danger is because that would point squarely at 0bama and the left. So, they use codewords.

EMP => total financial collapse, no “gov’t services”
Zombies => welfare/EBT/SNAP/0bamafone hoards wanting your stuff

Yep, a very deep liberal purge. It might be the only way.

“I will do my very best to slay those who threaten me or mine, and I will do so without mercy or remorse. Regardless of who they are.”

Then there are my two liberal relatives (here in Texas) and the husband has a carry permit and keeps his gun on him. So, the wife asks if he would shoot someone who was attacking her. There was silence for a number of seconds, then he said, “If I shot someone, I would get in trouble.”

I was totally shocked he didn't answer immediately and shocked he wouldn't shoot. As I result, I think he carries that gun to be “macho”. This is Texas and he would not get in trouble if someone was attacking his wife.

I wouldn't want him next to me in an emergency situation because I couldn't depend on him to help defend the “fort” or us in it. I would be the one shooting for damn sure if someone attacked his wife who is my sister-in-law (even if she is a liberal to the left of Stalin).

“Sit in place, whimper a lot and die or be killed. That’s what the weak will do.”

Frantically try to get a signal on their non-working mobile device to call 911.

“When did Michael Dukakis move to Texas?”

This incident happened only a few weeks ago and I'm still bothered by his answer. I thought he loved this woman, so why would he not shoot? Why was his first thought that he could get in trouble? I would think most men would shoot immediately without thinking and whatever happened afterward would just happen but the wife would be alive.

I live by myself now but if I had a husband and he said that, I think his stuff would be in the street burning up and he would be there with it and my door would be locked and he wouldn't have a key.

The sad part is that only 58% would kill to protect their family.

Yeesh. If the sample base is reflective of America, and not a chimera from a false consensus, then austerity time is going to be rough.

One thing I remember from the Hostess bankruptcy: when good times turn to bad, camaraderie turns to acrimony. During the Great Depression, despite the lurid tales of bank robbers, crime declined. Back then, hard times lessened acrimony: brought people to their senses, in a way.

It's a safer bet that those days are gone.

This man is a liberal to the left of Stalin. Both he and the wife are the same - they get their news from Al Jazeera because “they tell the truth.”

Even if he is a liberal, he’s carrying that gun all the time. That’s why I think he’s carryng it to be macho, not for protection. If he wouldn’t shoot to protect her, he’s not ever shooting it.

If no one has pinged you to this, I will. If you've already seen it, look at it again.

We are dealing with a population of sheep! Almost half of them admit they would willingly show throat to their oppressors.

Look at this quote: 24 percent said they think such violence would break out within the first week. Another 23 percent said it would happen within two weeks. About the same percentage – 27 percent – said such violence would occur sometime between two weeks and two months after failure of the grid.

People, that is WRONG! New York in 1977, Miami in 1992, New Orleans in 2005, the proof is all over the map: the Golden Horde will rise within HOURS of the grid going offline.

Oh, and the other gem: who here considers themselves "Doomsday Preppers"? That phrase is an insult. It's the title of a Leftist cable TV series designed to make mature prepared citizens look like fools. All they do is answer fanmail from tinfoilers who want to be on TV, pick the wackiest ones, hand them a $500 check, and let them babble on camera for a 15-minute segment: quite literally, fifteen minutes of fame. And the useless eaters who watch the show have their liberal bias against conservatives validated for free.

“the Golden Horde will rise within HOURS of the grid going offline.”

It's according to how many “hours” you are talking about. If the grid in the whole country goes off (however, Texas has a separate grid so it would have to be an EMP to take them out also), people couldn't find out why it went out and wouldn't know the whole country was down. If the grid is fried, there is no TV since their backup generators wouldn't be working.

They would first think the outage was local. It may take days for them to know the power was out everywhere, so one would be safe during this period of people not knowing.

How would they be notified it was out country wide? I've thought about this since everything is down, no TV or radio to tell them. I think it would be short wave operators with their own power source that perhaps didn't get fried at the time of the EMP) to spread the word. I got a battery short wave receiver several months ago just in case that was the only way to get news. If anyone protects their equipment, I think it would be the short wave operators.

Also, it would have to be a nuclear blast EMP to fry all electronic devices.

I researched the effects of a sun originated EMP and a nuclear blast EMP and they are not the same.

A charge coming from the sun stays in a straight line and goes into a power line and destroys that and everything connected to it. If your device is not plugged in, it is not destroyed. You car won't be destroyed. It is only power lines and devices attached that burn out.

However, with a nuclear blast charge, it spreads out and destroys every electronic device within its field.

I know some experts think a Faraday cage will not protect well enough to save devices and I have no opinion since I'm not an expert on that.

Let's say it's a sun EMP. People's cars are still working. They can get around and think the outage is local and they don't freak out for a couple of days. Stores can take cash. Cars work until they need gas and there won't be any gas, can't pump gas without power. When the looting does start, it will stay in the inner city since the only way out is walking.

Then, let's say it's a nuclear bomb EMP and nothing electronic works. Their car is toast. No one can travel, can't get home unless they walk. I would expect inner cities to come apart with looting once the shock wore off of those zombies. Probably take a day for it to start and they stay in the inner city due to the same problem of having to walk out.

The looting after the hurricane in the northeast stayed in the affected area. Even in New Orleans, the looting was in the downtown area not far from where those zombies lived. They went to the downtown every evening in normal times.

Years before that, I was in the New Orleans downtown area after dark. There were four of us, two men, two women. Three of those people lived outside the downtown area but worked downtown. Walking down the street, the men got on the outside so the women were on the inside. They said the people from the “projects” came into downtown every night and when they (the two men) finished their workday, they got in their cars and got the hell out of there.

Areas like that in any city will explode but I think the zombies will stay in their familiar area. And, they have to walk to get out of there to somewhere else.

Darlin’, you’re forgetting one thing. These are the Free Sh!t Army, Holder’s People, the Golden Horde. All they care about is that their hood is dark, and their EBT cards don’t work. As far as a nationwide crisis, THEY COULDN’T CARE LESS! Their barrio is all they’re looking at for the moment. When it dawns on them that the lights and the cable aren’t coming back on, it’ll start.

Case #1: New York, 1977. Power went off at 9:30PM. The looting started at 11:00PM. As long as the hood was dark, they screamed “It’s Christmas Time!”

Case #2: Miami, 1992. When Hurricane Andrew hit, the winds hadn’t even died down before the zombies started massing. Barely hours passed before they came boiling out of the ghettos.

Case #3: New Orleans, 2005. Not only did the Golden Horde rise up, but the government thugs and the locals used it as the excuse to start the Great Louisiana Gun Grab.

Hours, Marcella. Hours. The food may last three days, but the zombie attacks will start at Z-Plus-Three. If they even wait that long.

And they will find you. And they will take whatever you have. Because to them it’s still free sh!t.

Probably not many of us live in the inner city, so I think our biggest problem is the “normal” people outside the inner city, in the suburbs, who become desperate and turn into stealing and, if necessary, killing, to get water and food. That would take a number of days since their way of life is not stealing/killing.

They would eat every bit of food in their house and if water was off, they would take water out of the storage tank of potties and out of the hot water heater. After all that was gone, then they will turn into zombies in order to survive and water/feed their kids if they have any.

“Their barrio is all they’re looking at for the moment.”

That's what I mean. They have an area they are comfortable in and they stay there. Not many of us live in those areas, if any at all do. They turn their area into wasteland and likely kill each other. I don't care.

As I just posted, I think it's our neighbors, meaning those living in our more civilized/educated areas, that within four or five days, starts producing unwilling zombies but it happens.
