Writing from Jackson, Kentucky, Mr. Kristof reported that numerous poor parents in Appalachian hill country are yanking their kids out of literacy classes in order to bag a $689 monthly Supplemental Security Income (S.S.I.) check per kid. The checks continue until the child reaches 18 years of age.
“The kids get taken out of the program because the parents are going to lose the check,” said Billie Oaks, who runs a literacy program here in Breathitt County, a poor part of Kentucky. “It’s heartbreaking.”
1Cornell University Economics Professor Richard V. Burkhauser says parents are inducing illiteracy to keep the taxpayer-funded welfare checks rolling in. “One of the ways you get on this program is having problems in school. If you do better in school, you threaten the income of the parents. It’s a terrible incentive,” said Professor Burkhauser.

You don’t continue to build when the foundation is crumbling away. There is a reason some houses aren’t renovated, it requires less money to raze the old structure and start with a solid foundation and quality construction.
The question will be do we include the existing design flaws of the present system when we rebuild? Will anyone be able to point out the flaws that caused the previous system to crumble?
That’s why we need to focus on state and local elections. We need a fire break. If you live in a blue state, there are jobs down here in Texas. The Kalfornian rats have started moving in, so get here and help us kick them out.

Home school if you can. Private school if you can afford it. At minimum a charter schools grounded in the Founders and our constitution.
If we all just sit back any type rants to each other and continue to send future generations to be brainwashed by the public school commie teacher’s union then we don’t deserve the country the Founders risked everything to give to us.
The Progressive communists took this country away little by little following the communist manifesto using our own tax dollar funded public schools as their indoctrination centers until they reached the tipping point of a fully brainwashed media, lawyers who care very little about constitutional law other than how to subvert it, teachers at every grade level to ramp up the disinformation about this country and a group of highly inferior USSC judges who for the most part constantly vote 5-4. These 5-4 decisions should tell anyone with an IQ over 50 that they are simply following party lines and to hell with the Constitution and We The People.
As we no longer have enough people of character and backbone to outright appose this corrupt government we MUST then follow their tactics and immediately begin the long road of teaching the truth to future generations and remove our children from the clutches of the communist within.

I'm not sure what post-cliff America will look like. There will probably be a lot of angry people looking to a broke government for salvation. How the angry people and the government choose to handle the situation will determine a future. I hear people saying there were not any riots during the great depression so why would there be riots today? People in the thirties were more self-sufficent and didn't automatically look to government for help. You see soup kitchen lines that were orderly where today a Black Friday sale is a free for all.
My hope is that we will be able to rebuild with conservative principles and capitalism for the future of my children and grandchildren, but my observation of the human condition tells me otherwise.
Since we can only guess at the future, I can only guess at what will be required of me to take care of my family. I have prepared for a bleak future and hope the real conservatives that can rebuild the country have done the same.

Nobody has even a weak grasp on just how many government agencies there are or what they do. Didn’t I read somewhere that 83 different government programs pay out “entitlement” benefits?
The Founders established a small central government to handle the things that the states alone couldn’t do, such as foreign affairs, coining money and military matters. That’s ALL they should be doing.
And now we’re seeing the Constitution violated, openly and repeatedly. Why am I not surprised at that? That lack of outrage over Constitutional violations is appalling, but I’ve learned not to expect better from a spineless Congress.

Open acts of terrorism are unwise and ill-advised. Stoppages and work slowdowns might have a place, but I’ll leave that to other minds to consider. However, I do seem to recall that the Sons of Liberty were known for acts of civil disobedience and hooliganism. Maybe we should look for another Gaspee?
That our constitutional government has been overthrown is evident in that it's defenders are now viewed as barbarians at the gates, and now it is socialists/unions/LGBTs/jihadis who are the guardians of "civilization" and "freedom" according to their new twisted definitions.
They have made us out to be the barbarians. And we apologize and try to reason with propagandists that we are not barbarians, as though liars cared about the truth.
Personally, I no longer see it as a conflict of ideas or an electoral contest. I see it as a war. And the advantage in being accused unjustly, is that an insecure enemy accuses you of being that thing he's most afraid of you becoming. They accuse conservatives of being right wing fanatics, because conservatives truly becoming right wing fanatics is a liberal's worst nightmare, and we apologize and try to prove we are moderate and willing to negotiate in response. That is a mass media guilt trip and a losing strategy.
They consider us the backward, the neanderthals, the Visigoths and Vandals who want to destroy their totalitarian socialist Utopia. And we try to reason with them that we are not, or worse, submit into depressive silence under their diatribes.

My income went underground years ago. This depraved emperor may not miss my few tax dollars, but it pleasures my barbarian soul that I prosper while he fails. I threw out my TV and the Hollywood media machine can grind on without my dollars for it's grease. Not long after 9-11 I stopped funding OPEC and began walking almost everywhere, the Islamic jihad may not have slowed it's atrocities, but I am stronger and healthier and more independent. I don't care if what I do changes one thing outside myself. I am the one who is changed. Changing into what, I don't know, but backward and barbarian is what they call us, as if it is the worst thing in the world...and for these enemies to the "backward" America we've lost, the worst thing in their world is what I want to become. What I do may not change anything, outside of me, but it does change me, changes me like the fire and hammering of steel at a blacksmith's forge, and I leave my final shape or result to The Master, if He gives me the strength and purpose for this I leave it to Him what tool I in the end become to suit His purpose.
