The worst mass killing in the US I believe is the Happyland Social club fire where the killer used a plastic milk jug he found on the street and a gallon of stolen gasoline.
Timothy McVeigh killed 168 people and injured over 800 with a rented truck and 108 bags of ammonium nitrate.
