The no guns in school is a recent thing for no apparent reason. We brought guns to Michigan schools into the 80s for hunting before and after school.
Michigan doesn’t have a history of mass school shootings and we’re a gun heavy state.
Michigan does have the terrible Bath bombings in its history.
