Sandy Hook Elementary School first-grade teacher Vicki Soto tried to shield her students from the maniacal shooter. 'She put herself between the gunman and her students,' her cousin Jim Wiltsie told the Daily News.

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down ones life for ones friends. John 15:13
This is the single bright spot in the horror of what happened.
That there ARE good and noble people who would protect others with their own life.
Well done, Ms. Soto. Rest in peace, and go to your reward knowing that even in the end, you did the greatest good you could possibly do. . .
well said
“She died a hero”
Perhaps Newtown would be wise to name the building that replaces the current Sandy Hook school, the “Victoria Soto Elementary School” in her honor...
I would be surprised if they didn't.
God Bless you Ms. Soto. May you rest in eternal peace.
A true Hero and a true Sheepdog protecting her lambs.
No Greater Love.
There is something confused — understandably, given the circumstances — about the stories about Ms. Soto's death. There are two seemingly irreconcilable stories. The first is that Ms. Soto huddled her little students in a corner and shielded them with her own body, but that the shooter managed to kill Ms Soto and all the students huddled with her. The other story is that the teacher: hid the children in a closet; told the shooter they were all in the gym, and then was shot by the shooter before he left to look for other victims, leaving Ms Soto's hiding students unscathed. One poster wrote of Ms Soto: “None of her students died, thanks to her.” The stories are not the same and cannot both be correct.
She was indeed a noble human being.
But if my daughter were a teacher in that school, she would have lived and the shooter would have died.
She is a hero.
I wish she had a gun in the classroom.
That's a fine idea!
Why must our heros always be disarmed, sacrificial lambs led to slaughter?
Christ already paid the penalty. He told us to arm ourselves in Luke 22:35,36. To everything there is a season. “Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.” (Ec 9:17) Time to stop interfering with teachers who want to arm themselves in order to protect their charges.
It is criminal not to be able to shoot back.
She died protecting her charges. She faced an armed, crazy assailant and because of her actions, children lived.
I would hope I would have done the same.
What an incredibly, loving, GOOD person
