Chuck Hagel's appointment to defense shows the game has changed (Jewish Community aghast at choice)
American Thinker ^ | 12/17/2012 | Rick Moran

Posted on 12/17/2012 7:18:31 AM PST by SeekAndFind

Caroline Glick is not given to exaggeration and hyperbole. That's why this article she recently penned is so striking. She is sounding the alarm about the Obama administration taking off its anti-Israel mask in order to fundamentally transform the relationship with the Jewish state:

_______________________

Many in the American Jewish community are aghast to discover that President Obama is planning to appoint former Senator Chuck Hagel to serve as Defense Secretary. If you want the skinny on how Hagel has come to be known as one of the few ferociously anti-Israel senators in the past generation, Carl from Jerusalem at Israel Matzav provides it.

Meantime, all I can say is I don't understand how anyone can possibly be surprised. Shortly after word came out that Hagel is the frontrunner for the nomination, I read a quaint little blog post written by a conservative leaning commentator voicing her belief that Obama wouldn't want to risk his relations with Israel's supporters by appointing Hagel. But as Powerline pointed out today, this is the entire point of the nomination. Obama isn't stupid. He picks fights he thinks he can win. He hasn't always been right about those fights. He picked fights with Netanyahu thinking he could win, and he lost some of those.

But he is right to think he can win the Hagel fight. The Republican Senators aren't going to get into a fight with Obama about his DOD appointee, especially given that it's one of their fellow senators, even though many of them hate him. The Democrats are certainly not going to oppose him.

Obama wants to hurt Israel. He does not like Israel. He is appointing anti-Israel advisors and cabinet members not despite their anti-Israel positions, but because of them.

“Of course they’ll just point out that Hagel was a “Republican.”

That's the biggest problem with the “party” system in Washington. We need to votes to maintain control, so we let guys like Hagel continue to call themselves, “Republicans.”

To tell the truth, I never had the slightest idea what the heck that guy was. Every so often he appeared to be a Republican, but most of the time he seemed boarderline nuts. Now the lamestream media will give zero credit for "including" a Republican in his cabinet.

Temper your bigotry.

Catholics United is NOT a Catholic group. It is a bunch of leftists who believe very little in Catholic doctrine. Don’t go using them as the voice of Catholics and the Catholic Church.

It's not bigotry if it is the truth...bigotry would be a lie masquerading as truth to foster said bigotry.

It is a fact via exit polling...that a majority of Catholics voted for Obama in this election and in most elections since JFK they have done that...not all..I think 4..they voted GOP

maybe 1972, 1980 and 1984...could be another one...2004?...and the first three were before the Hispanic wave

...59% white Catholics voted Romney. ...only slightly below the white vote in general

so yes...Catholics...even white ones do not vote as conservative as Southern baptists or Pentecostals but the white ones do have their moments of clarity

it's always been that many Catholics here just don't want to hear it

I wish white Catholics voted like whites in Alabama...that would fix America for now...and if they listened to Rome's advice on simple moral issues...they would

These are people who call themselves Catholic, while supporting abortions, they go to Communion every Sunday when they do not observe confession, they come on Christmas and easter.

They are Nancy Pelosi’s and Biden’s only Catholic in their own minds.

NO CATHOLIC could support OBAMA.

PRESS RELEASE: Self-appointed ‘Catholic leader’ smears Catholics United; group responds
Posted February 18, 2012

Washington, DC – In a blog post written Thursday, February 16, William “Bill” Donohue, CEO of the Catholic League, stated falsehoods about Catholics United as a result of one mention of the organization at a Congressional hearing regarding women’s access to birth control.

The Catholic League is a self-styled “civil rights group” based in New York. In the post, Mr. Donohue claimed Catholics United is “a George Soros-funded anti-Catholic front group.” He went on to say Soros has “poured a ton of money” into the organization.

“Absolute nonsense,” said James Salt, executive director of Catholics United. “Our 40,000-member organization has never received a cent from Mr. Soros or any of his affiliated groups. I’m puzzled why Mr. Donohue continues to spread this falsehood. Furthermore, I find Mr. Donohue’s use of the smear term ‘anti-Catholic’ highly offensive and disgusting. As a fellow person of the Catholic faith, I expect Mr. Donohue to be above that.”

Salt said though his organization has never received money from Soros, he’d welcome contributions if they were made to further the mission of Catholic Social Teaching and in a spirit of good faith.

not a catholic people hater, just see their organization as a corruption of the true catholic (small c: universal) Christian church. I am not alone in describing it as the "whore of Babylon".

What God gave us through His Son's death and Resurrection, they try to take away by adding back requirements of adherence to their doctrines and edicts. Jesus paid the price once for all.

Romans 3: 19Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

Righteousness Comes Through Faith

21But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement,i through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

27Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith. 28For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law. 29Is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, 30since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. 31Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law. -NIV

PRESS RELEASE: Catholics United Applauds Greenhouse Gas Health Standards
Posted March 27, 2012

New rule improves air quality, shows commitment to reversing life-threatening effects of climate change

WASHINGTON – Today the Environmental Protection Agency announced the Carbon Pollution Standard, commonly known as a “greenhouse gas rule,” a measure that will impose limits of the emission of carbon from coal-fired power plants. The new standard will protect the health of every American and will help ensure future generations are able to live in a cleaner, more sustainable environment. The rule is another step in addressing the increasing dangers of climate change.

Catholics United welcomes this ruling, as care for God’s creation is a central component of Catholic social teaching. Pope Benedict XVI, commonly known as “the Green Pope” as he has made the environment one of his top concerns, often speaks out in favor of protecting the earth and limiting the effects of global climate change.

Maybe you should take some time to learn typing/spelling...

You can call me whatever, but it doesn't affect my relationship with God. I do know the Scriptures and know how to find the quotes instead of having to do all that typing. Though I am not suffering like Paul, "Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day."!

maybe you should spend some time in there and you may find the ultimate truth! Jesus saves, not a manmade organization!
