No idea what your point is. I do not agree with gay marriage. I was simply pointing out the fact that Gingrich is expressing the sentiment in this country regarding gay marriage. Many on this thread make it sound like he Newt invented homosexuality. He is smart enough to know the battles that can be fought and won, ths isn’t it.
However, we went to their house last week, and her dad brought up gay marriage (which passed in this state). Mind you, this is a retired union guy, who says roughly 3 words per week.
He was on fire about this issue. "It's unnatural", "It's wrong", "marriage has been around for thousands of years, and it was never about gays!"
And this from a guy who voted for Obama. I kept my big yapper shut. I'd never seen this mild-mannered guy so worked up about an issue.
Newt is correct on one account. Gay marriage opponents and "values voters" are a dying breed.
It doesn't mean we should just throw in the towel, though.
It IS hard to argue against a secular society that doesn't seem to "get" that there are REASONS, not "religious" for supporting traditional marriage.
Wish I could make my father-in-law understand that he is voting FOR gay marriage when he votes dem.
He doesn't seem to get the connection.
