Maybe it's because of being Texas or it could be that the extremely Conservative church of Christ (small 'c' -- not Jeremiah Wright's lunatic asylum) just sees things differently but my congregation is far from a gun free zone. The preacher carries and, likewise, a good percentage of those of us worshiping on Sundays (and, of course, Wednesday night). Any thug trying to make off with the collection plate will be greeted with a hail of hot lead through the head just before he enters eternal damnation. The Second Amendment means a lot to us -- and is right up there with Acts 2:38 as far as most of us at the coC are concerned.
In my opinion, a church is definitely among the places where guns should be welcomed. America was built on a foundation of God and guns. They are absolutely inseparable.
Amen, my friend.

And even if it is about just God, if you pay attention to the Bible, it tells you not to be unarmed and that Jesus himself didn’t have a problem with self-defense or defensive preparations/arms.
Luke 22:35-38 comes immediately to mind.
“In my opinion, a church is definitely among the places where guns should be welcomed...... America was built on a foundation of God and guns..... They are absolutely inseparable....”
I think about that often, how God looks at a situation where you might have to shoot and kill someone in self-defense....Is it a lack of faith that I wasn’t protected?....”There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling”.......I mean, there is such a thing as supernatural protection “He shall encamp angels about thee, to lift thee up, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone”.......One of the mysteries to be revealed at the last day.....
