[Background check of owner and any transferee;

Type and serial number of the firearm;

Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;

Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law]

How would that have prevented what happened in CT?

Doesn’t CT already have most of those controls in place?

"How would that have prevented what happened in CT?"

It wouldn't have. Adam's mother was certified, approved and degreed as one of the superiors of society. So were Jokerboy's parents.

The object of gun control and other measures are to make sure that presently deposed (laid off) members of the middle class and the tens of millions to be deposed (from their government/government-linked incomes) during the remainder of the default process are no possible threat to those who will continue to control the shrinking pool of government debt and revenues from the agriculture-only economy of the near future.

The few remaining approved for participation in the economy hope to live happily ever after, frolicking with Bambi and Kitty in pristine "open space," sans scary presences of then-vanished, unfashionable masses. "Future's so bright, I gotta wear shades," eh?

This process was bound to happen from somewhat before 1980, on. First, the tossing of manufacturing from US soil. Second, the destruction of the family, also to prevent domestic competition from rising. Then many more regulations against tiny manufacturing starts followed by the contemporary feeding frenzy. It's raining middle class folks for years--over a million of 'em a month. And many who don't expect to lose their investments are afraid.

Thus, the present and increasing hysteria in politics and policies. Have fun. Enjoy the slide.
