Sen. Charles Schumer says retailers that sell assault weapons should stop offering them for purchase while Congress discusses gun regulation legislation.
Schumer on Sunday released a letter he sent to major retailers asking for a voluntary moratorium.
The New York Democrat says consumer demand for guns has gone up in the weeks since the December mass shooting in Newtown, Conn....

It would be fun to ask a liberal exactly what guns a person would be entitled to own and use that could not be the subject of regulation, because it would cross the line against unreasonable regulation.
I suppose it would not have an answer, any more than the question, “what policy decisions for the current democratic party are different from the policy decisions of the communist party?”
Or, what forms of marriage are not permitted according to modern liberals? Can you marry animals, multiple spouses, children, dead people? What are the current limits of a person’s right to “love” someone.

According to his definition of an assault weapon being a semiautomatic rifle, I bought one yesterday along with a multi-cartridge (see, I didn't use the word “bullet”) magazine. Imagine that, an assault rifle from Kentucky, the land of Daniel Boone - ole' Daniel would be proud.

I saw on FR a post that said Hussein likely will have an executive order to ban the sale of semiautomatic rifles until congress can write a law. Does that mean if congress never passes such a law that the executive order will stand - not go away?

If a buyer has already paid for the rifle but it hasn’t been shipped to him/her yet, then the buyer owns it now and that is before Hussein stops the sale of them. I have bought one, paid for it, it’s in the store but hasn’t been shipped yet.
Anyone trying to buy AFTER Hussein bans them, couldn’t buy one.
