Obama: Gun Lobby "Ginning Up Fear" That Government Will Take Away All Your Guns
Real Clear Politics ^ | 1/14/13 | staff

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, I think, for example, how we are gathering data, for example, on guns that fall into the hands of criminals and how we track that more effectively -- there may be some steps that we can take administratively, as opposed -- through legislation.

As far as people lining up and purchasing more guns, you know, I think that we’ve seen for some time now that those who oppose any common-sense gun control or gun safety measures have a pretty effective way of ginning up fear on the part of gun owners that somehow the federal government’s about to take all your guns away. And you know, that -- there’s probably an economic element to that. It obviously is good for business.

But I think that, you know, those of us who look at this problem have repeatedly said that responsible gun owners, people who have a gun for protection, for hunting, for sportsmanship -- they don’t have anything to worry about. The issue here is not whether or not we believe in the Second Amendment.

The issue is, are there some sensible steps that we can take to make sure that somebody like the individual in Newtown can’t walk into a school and gun down a bunch of children in a -- in a shockingly rapid fashion? And surely we can do something about that.

You got that right. Everyone responding to this thread knows what he’s about.

He’s 24 hours a transparent liar with a very large support staff.

And at the risk of ginning up more fear, I say we have to increase the pressure until even soros feels the heat.

With all this hysteria of gun control let's put things into perspective:

1. Current U.S. population is about 313 million.
2. Guns purchased since the November 2008 election — 67 million. Current estimates are 300+ million firearms in the hands of Americans that increase by several million per month.
3. Guns purchased in November 2012 — 2 million. Guns purchased in December 2012 — 2.7 million.
4. Active duty Chinese PLA — approx. 2.23 million; active duty Indian Army — approx. 1.13 million = approx. 2.4 million.
5. In the last two months, Americans have purchased enough new guns to completely reequip the active forces of the Chinese PLA and Indian Army plus have 300,000 guns left over.

So, now we have prominent politicians talking about making whole classes of guns illegal and subject to confiscation by force. What are these lunatics thinking? Hint: Civil War 2.

Mr. President, before we continue, would you please, in concrete, specific terms, define “common-sense”.

*Scoffs*

I seem to recall him making a similar promise with healthcare. Now, how did that work out again?

Folks, when politicians make a promise, always remember this: The Enabling Act was only supposed to last four years and American boys weren’t going to be sent half way across the world to do what Asian boys ought to have been doing themselves.

“common-sense gun control” in plain English is “tyrant’s ploy”

The Second Amendment is not about sportsmanship, hunting, or even personal protection. It is about ensuring the people’s ability to utterly destroy the federal government should it turn tyrannical. It is a free people’s last resort. More 0bama double talk.

The gun lobby must have taken this quote the wrong way,

“What you can count on is that the things that I’ve said in the past – the belief that we have to have stronger background checks, that we can do a much better job in terms of keeping these magazine clips with high capacity out of the hands of those who shouldn’t have them, an assault weapons ban that’s meaningful – those are things I continue to believe make sense,”

Common sense? Still waiting for them to charge the Bimbo in NY with accessory to murder and attempted murder for buying the guns for the nut case who shot the firemen. When was the last time that you have heard of the Justice Dept. or States Attorneys pressing the current mandatory charges and sentences for gun possession or guns used in commission of a crime for criminals .... none, they drop the charges or make the sentence concurrent with other charges.

FU, Obama!

Right there, that is an Impeachable offense. He took an OATH to support and defend the Constitution--yet bypassing the legislature is UNconstitutional at best.

Dude, you're the President; not dictator. In any case, we'll continue to oppose you until your out of office. I long to see your immpeachment trial. I know Congress doesn't have the guts, but you deserve it, if justice was to truly prevail.
