White House slams NRA ad using Obama daughters to criticize new gun laws
yahoo ^ | 1/16/2013 | By Olivier Knox

Posted on 01/16/2013 3:50:33 PM PST by tobyhill

The White House on Wednesday blasted a web ad released by the National Rifle Association using President Barack Obama’s daughters to criticize the president on gun control as “repugnant and cowardly."

The NRA released the ad Tuesday, a day before Obama announced a package of proposals aimed at curbing gun violence in the wake of a mass shooting in Newtown, Conn., last month.

In strikingly personal terms, the ad calls Obama an "elitist hypocrite" for allowing Secret Service protection for daughters even as he calls for tighter gun laws.

"Why is [Obama] skeptical about putting armed security in schools when his kids are protected by armed guards at their school?" the ad asks.

As the president's children, Malia and Sasha Obama are entitled to Secret Service protection. Obama has never said he opposes more armed security guards at school, which the NRA recommended in the wake of the Newtown massacre. But the president has said such a step is not sufficient in curbing gun danger.

Who was the commie bastard using children as pawns today while he attacked the Second Amendment? Oh yeah Adolph Obama.

NRA could have softened this a bit by including the (no doubt) dozens of other government folk who have children protected by armed security.
Still, NRA made their point.

What both of you said...he’s been desecrating the memory of murdered children with his grandstanding. At least the comparisons are just that and nothing more. The hypocrisy is neck deep with that one.

Parents who think that the lives of their children do not deserve the same degree of protection as what Obama’s children receive should not be parents.

I have no way to verify this, but I read elsewhere that the White House “Spokeskid” sends his kids to Sidwell Friends as well as does The Kenyan. The White House Mouthpiece position must pay well. Sidwell annually is as expensive as an Ivy League college. sd

Yeah, just heard a bunch of hand wringers on FOX piss and moan on the NRA about this too.

TOUGH CRAP. The left abused the memory of the Sandy Hook kids ever since the shooting. Sidwell kids have had armed protection for a LONG TIME. So pointing out the P U N K S hypocrisy is LONG OVERDUE.com

I wish NRA would have used moms ,kids, daughters who successfully prevented their own deaths with a gun.(God knows no republicans in office would ever put together such a live video)

Like the 911 woman in GA who shot the turd in the face 5 times.

Victim impact statements are effective.

Obummer can use other people’s kids as political props, but nobody can use his in a political ad.

The 1st Amendment is to be used at Obama’s discretion and his media pressitute pretorian guard only as THEY see fit.

The whole scene is inappropriate.

The NRA should run an ad of kids whose parents saved them by shooting home invaders.

Of course, the whole scene is inappropriate.

It just struck me that, a parent who would dress a child in that manner, must not have a wick in their lamp. Being liberals, they are short enough on brains as it is, but exploiting their own children...damn.

I agree. The ad didn't bother me and it's true, but I would like for the NRA to focus on Congressmen and women, actors, rich liberals, idiots like the Kardashians and maybe point out the other elitist that have kids at Sidwell that are all protected by guns. For example, does Chuck Schumer have armed protection? That's what I want to know.

Agree re the dress.

At the prez speech today , in the front row, were the parents of one of the Sandy Hook victims, with purple ribbons, positively BEAMING,at the President.

That struck me as very odd. you lose your child four weeks ago, and you are at a televised press conference looking giddy?

There was a lot of “inappropriate” going around today.

Liberals have no shame. No sense of real love or compassion.

I can't imagine losing a child. I know I lost my dear, dear, brother and cried every night for a year and on occasion ever since.

I could not have gone to such an event , even with a President I admired at the helm-and been able to keep myself together.

Do these people have no soul?

I am sure Sidwell has always had armed security around the school, even when a POTUS child is not enrolled. There are a lot of very wealthy elite future liberals getting their education. Additionally, most private schools allow personal armed body guards paid for by parents who feel their children could be ransom targets etc.

Chris Stevens and his people were not armed, remember? http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2012/12/10/Benghazi-Source-Unarmed

Unarmed. In Benghazi. Well, not Smith and Doherty.

Oh, and arming narcoterrorists in Mexico with who knows what....forcing US gun shopowners to sell weapons to their runners. Worked for Brian Terry, no? Wasn’t the actual bullet supply fake/plugs, not bullets?

Going on 2,000,000,000 HOLLOW POINT bullets bought up by the feds. Those are only for killing—people.

Talk about pawns.

Spose they’ll be called gulags here?

A “second day” ad from NRA including promenent people with children under armed guard would knock the issue outta the park.

Who are these “special class” of people ?
Name the families who have children guarded (unlike the average kids in Newtown.) Why didn’t Newtown kids get the same protection as kids in the “beltway” ?

NRA should see this and pounce.
