From my perch in Delaware, I can only marvel at how faded pols suddenly become white-hot in the blink of an eye. Take former Senator Chuck Hagel, for instance. I met him once back in 1999, early in his first Senate term. Ive met many politicians in my career, but I wont soon forget that afternoon in Hagels office.

Wow, what an awful program that should be terminated immediately. Paying government workers to work as an intern in a congressional office? It really does explain so much as to how inane provisions keep getting into the laws proposed by more reasonable people. They’ve been sabotaged by bureaucrats working from within.
Oh, and a loud office with a barber chair. Got it. Just imagine members of the ATF sitting in your local congressman’s office, drafting legislation.

He used the same logic to justify the government monopoly takeover of the student loan industry and hardly anyone batted an eye.
