US minesweeper runs aground in Philippines

A US Navy minesweeper has run aground in a protected marine sanctuary in the Philippines, the US embassy in Manila said Thursday.

The USS Guardian ran aground on the Tubattaha Reef on Wednesday night "during normal transit", it said. The extent of the damage to the ship and the cause of the accident was still not known, it added.

"The government of the Philippines was promptly informed of the incident and offered to assist the US Navy," it said.

The US Navy said on its website that the 224-foot (68-metre) vessel is based in Sasebo, southern Japan but it was not known what the ship was doing in the area when the incident happened.

Located in the Sulu Sea about 130 kilometres (80 miles) southeast of the western island of Palawan, Tubattaha Reef is a protected sanctuary that is popular with divers.

That’s not a minor grounding. That’s hitting what should be a well charted reef if that’s the real picture.

“protected marine sanctuary”

NO waaayyyy!! Thats so cool. We’ve really needed a place where marines can run free and be happy later in life.

Have you ever noticed, how the first thing to go when a nation turns its’ back on God is the military?

Hum, a minesweeper (a boat specifically designed to find stuff underwater) runs aground.

Somebody is in big trouble.

Like how the Western Roman Empire's military went to pot after the Empire converted from paganism to Christianity?

I didn’t think these kind of FUBARs were even possible in the age of satellite navigation. Why wouldn’t a ship this size have onboard systems that would warn them away from hitting a reef?

It might be the hull had a breach and the boat was run aground to avoid sinking. It looks precisely aimed with the waves.

Well, seeing as how we still haven’t won in Afghanistan after 9/11, Iraq is still a mess, so I look to see even more incompetence now that our military is run by poofs and ferries whom hold hands together while attending gay pride parades and combat training, you honestly think heterosexuals are going to join the military in the numbers prior to don’t ask don’t tell? 9/11 was a turning point in this country, God removed his hand of grace, a nation that chooses to be ruled by the laws of men rather then the Laws of God inevitably gets tyrants like Odumba, the seeds are sown for our military, they will soon bare rotten fruit, especially now that or commander in thief has turned his back on Israel!
