I think it unlikely that the police would leave a loaded shotgun in an unsecured area even if it was in the trunk of a car.

Depends upon what police procedure in that situation is.

Were they supposed to post an armed guard over the shotgun???

Were they supposed to carry it with them into the school -- another weapon in the school for the perp[s] in there to get their hands on possible???

And that car was part of the crime scene at that point and the fingerprints on that weapon might have been important.

So why take it with you into a live shooting zone??

I'm sure it was the subject of the following police department meeting.

Well it is hard to say, but like I mentioned earlier there has been a real effort to cloud the facts and create uncertainty. While the incompetence of the media may explain much of the confusion, I also believe that the Justice Department was behind the scene within a few hours trying to spin the story. Of course, I have no proof of that, but this administration has expressed its attitude in the past: “Never let a good crisis go to waste.” Behind the scene this criminal government is still smiling while dancing in the blood of these children, and giving praise to their good fortune.
