The “tribal” identity you speak of is broadly divided around “interest-oriented” identification: Unmarried women (abortion, contraception, child care; equal pay rhetoric etc; GLBT (right of perversion); Hispanics (illegal immigration); Blacks (welfare and affirmative action); Asians (cultural and religious equality: 74% voted for Obama); Moslems (religious equality: “We are not a Christian nation”); SEIU (government and private unions); NEA (teacher funding, seniority, tenure; public school monopoly). These are all key Democratic constituencies backed by the MSM and Hollywood and Silicon Valley billionaires.
This all gets you to 51%. That’s how Obama won despite his disastrous domestic and foreign policy record. This now a permanent majority.
-Unmarried women with bastard children. They view the State as their provider. They will not likely join the GOP.
-Hispanics. View the GOP as the party of anti immigrants, even though big business bused them in and made sure they were not deported. Honestly amnesty will hurt them more than they think, when their employers actually have to start paying taxes on them.
-Blacks: see unmarried women.
- Asians: Some chance here. But they still view the GOP as the “White man party”.
-Moslems: Not as solid Dem as you think. They are more in tune with the cultural views of Christians, and are still a small enough group to not have a huge national influence.
-NEA: The GOP needs to stop attacking education, and start attacking the problem. Trouble is that steps on the toes of a lot of the prior groups (single parent homes mess up education). But a teacher is a government job. My wife is a teacher, and I have to remind her constantly that the world she works in is NOT the real world. She doesn’t pay in to SS, has a pension, and better benefits than most.
So how do we fix that? Long term is to out breed those groups, (to be blunt). Trouble is if you look at history, no civilization has ever come back from this point.
