I agree with your sentiment but word has it that this is cut in stone. All the national organization is doing is removing that requirement. Where local organizations can continue to maintain the ban, they will.

Where the will isn’t there, they won’t.

Our orgainization is chartered through a local United Methodist Church but serves, almost exclusively, a private school. Our meetings are at the school and all but a couple of boys go there. We were kicked out of the school for recruitment and for meetings for a short period because a lib parent made a huge scene about the ban.

It was only through negotiations and an agreement that we would not specifically ban gays were we allowed back in. We already had an agnostic scout leader and a proclaimed athiest kid so we signed the agreement.

If we didn’t, we wouldn’t be able to provide a positive influence to the many who wanted to participate.

I understand principles but the world is unfortunately different now. My choice was let the organization die for our principles or take the hit and still provide an opportunity for the kids to learn their own principles.

Trying to turn the Boy Scouts into the Rump Rangers.

(with apologies to Roger Hedgecock who coined the phrase!)

As a Scoutmaster, I sent a letter to National, our Council Executive and District Managers and told htem in no uncertain terms that our troop is fully against this change. As a volunteer, I told them that they need us far more than we need them. American Heritage Girls springs to mind as an organization that would probably readily develop a boys program. As a Scoutmaster with a great team and lots of experience, I could easily have a program just like Scouts and completely independent of Scouts.

I don’t use profanity but am having a very hard time controlling my tongue about this.

Roger didn't coin the phrase. It was in use long before he found a purpose in life as a radio talk show host. He doesn't shy away from applying appropriate terms or going after the considerable perverted behavior in the San Diego area. Roger has been a great supporter for the Scouts. The gays have attacked the Scout camp in Balboa Park and Fiesta Island for years. My last visit to that facility was in 1970 to earn my lifesaving merit badge. I made Eagle Scout in April 1972.

My letters have also been sent. Being in the liberal enclave of Vermont, AHG have only 2 troops. If this goes through I wonder if AHG will formally cut ties with BSA.

My wife has phoned national in Texas and and expressed our opinion. They are apparently slammed with calls. The operator she spoke to said that they are so busy they only want a yes or no to the change. With this operator the no’s are ahead 178 to 2. At least that is good news and I hope the board listens.

I see what you're saying. I resent that the BSA is caving to politically correct pressure, however, I also know that it has to come. Part of the problem here in the urban northeastern part of the country is that so many homosexuals are legally married and parenting children. Unless we're a religious organization, I don't see how we can exclude parents from volunteering for their children's activities.

To be quite honest, I with the issue had never come up in the first place. Scouting here is all about crossbows and guns and the liberals tend to naturally stay away. And that's fine with me. But making it something gays can't touch, it's like a giant recruitment scheme once the ban gets lifted. Every liberal and homosexual in the area will suddenly want to sign up. Like I said, I don't think the thrill will last, scouting here is too conservative, but it's an annoyance we'll have to see ourselves through.

Our cub pack is chartered throught the Catholic parish because the public school gave us the heave ho a few years back. The older boy scouts are chartered through a Lutheran church, but there've been rumblings there and the Catholics might have to charter them too.

You can push back against Ernst & Young CEO James Turley by voting to withhold approval of the selection of Ernst & Young as auditors of every publicly-traded company in which you are a shareholder, including stocks in your IRA.

The season for annual meetings is coming up, and if you own stock, you can vote your shares. Approval of the outside auditor is always one of the questions on which shareholders must vote.

What the problem is, is they have placed public officers, officials, publically traded company execs, you name it.. Every one of these sell outs, will vote to save political gain, save face, you name it. The Scout Law specifically says a scout will be morally straight. For every one gay activist trying to force their views on a private organization, there are a thousand parents and scouts completely opposed to what they are preaching. If a person wants to be gay, that is their choice. Go start the gay scouts of America, whatever their choice, and may God guide them, but how dare you come into a century old organization and try to change the principles on what it was founded on. For 100 years, BSA has not gone trying to break yup or get into gay organizations.. Why force your way into something you were not wanted in out of spite? Your selfishness will take probably a very nice young man who abides by all but one scout law, and place him into a position (except in blue states) and subject him to bullying, hate, hazing. etc. The potential for this to happen is not a potential. It has been a fact for years. If you think a chubby kid or a clumsy kid is a target, I cannot begin to imagine how big of a target a gat boy would be.. It would be horrible to even comprehend! The Lesbian Liberation Front, is for gay women. Why in God’s name, because I am a straight man di I think, or more so, would I want to force my way into their group? It is not what I believe in, and as a scout, I am kind and would not want to upset them by trying to prove a point. There are competing organizations that allow young gay men. Gay people do not try to stop them from allowing gay boys in.. Why are they trying to force their way into something they have no business in?? I DON’T get it...
