Mark Kelly (husband of Gabby Giffords) seemed to be laying groundwork for poo-pooing mental health disqualifications, but now he includes mentally ill as “dangerous people” who should not have guns.
NB: Kelly has mentioned more than once that both he and wife Gabby are gun owners, pro-gun-ownership but anti-gun-violence.
Didn’t catch the name of the guy (not a Senator) up now, he said he testified 20 years ago at a similar hearing that the assault weapons ban wouldn’t work, and it sounds like he’s going to say it again today. He’s warning about back-door confiscation, mentioning NYC specifically. Universal checks work only if there’s universal registration, which never works out well.
