babygene, with all due respect, I don’t think you are familiar with the types of homeless that inhabit Grand Central and the NYC subway system. And I strongly doubt you would invite even one of them into your home. It would be putting yourself, your wife and family in danger.
They are truly the wretched of the earth. You look at them and wonder what their story is, how did they get there. If we knew the answer it would most likely involve drugs and excessive use of alcohol. It’s very sad. But for them, certainly most of them, there is no going back to a ‘normal’ life. Their minds and any pride they may once have had is gone. They will die in the subway tunnels or on the street grates, and be buried in a Potter’s Field.

You know, I have been through there dozens of times while visiting my brother. (he lives 50 miles north of the city)
Your right, some of them are pretty scary. And your right, I wouldn’t invite some of them (probably most of them) into my home.
However, I wasn’t kidding when I addressed that other Freeper. I am rich by most standards, and good looking (for my age) and educated. I have been very fortunate in life.
It hasn’t always been that way... My family didn’t have electricity until I was eleven or twelve, and indoor plumbing until I was out of the home at seventeen. (I’m 66)
