“Conservative Christians need to start opening their pocket books if they want their children and grandchildren to have a moral society to live in.”

I think its too late for that. The problem is the modern concept of marriage is like the modern concept of everything else. Its propose is to make people feel good not form perment family bonds for the sake of producing children.

This is what I call the “Disney concept of marriage” The concept which has been sold to us for a 100+ years sense we were little as a theme in countless stories. (I’m sure you have seen many of them)

Unfortunately this relatively new(in historical context) concept of marriage carry’s with it a fatal flaw. By placing the focus of marriage on the feelings rather than the commitment & family people have created an union that is as unstable as those same feelings. (That is not a marriage in the historical & practical context, its a partnership.)

Indeed as current divorce rates prove the union based upon such a foundation(which are now the overwhelming norm) are so unstable they are largely incapable of preforming their practical propose.

Indeed folk of my generation now in ever greater numbers question the merits of even bothering to enter into these unions they title “marriage” in the first place. “Marriage” rates are as a result going down.

This is not the symptom of a morally collapse society but a direct and logical result of a redefined institution, slowly losing the cultural clothing that no longer fit it in its new definition.

So you see the problem with marriage extends far beyond the question of “Gay marriage” or even its logical parallel inter-species marriage. What they now call “marriage” is not marriage even among folks reproductivly compatible sexes.

The real concept of marriage doesn’t exist for most people anymore.

You know this in your heart from what you have witness over the last 50 years in the deterioration of marriage. What you have perhaps failed to recognize is the underlining nature of the problem being the original redefinition & refocus of the institution.

If we don’t fix that definition, the abomination of “homosexual marriage” will just be a meaningless addition to an already meaningless institution.

If you ask me we would have an easyer time simply reintroducing the original institution, then reversing the 100+ years of redefinition they did to the existing one.

Instead we have rediscovered the original problem of single parent households and broken family with no solution in sight. As the redefined marriage offers no real solution.

This is not a symptom of a morally collapse society but a direct and logical result of a redefined institution, slowly losing the cultural clothing that no longer fit it in its new definition.
