Conservative Groups Mock Crossroads’ Initiative

Two powerful conservative groups say a new American Crossroads’ initiative, formed to work against Republican candidates it deems unelectable, is just another attempt to muzzle the GOP’s true base.

American Crossroads, a super PAC founded by a group led by former Bush White House advisor Karl Rove, was the largest Republican super PAC of the 2012 election cycle. The idea behind the PAC’s latest effort is to intensely vet prospective contenders for Congressional races to weed out candidates who are seen as too flawed to win general elections, The New York Times reported Sunday.

The new organization, the Conservative Victory Project, was formed because “there is a broad concern about having blown a significant number of races because the wrong candidates were selected,” American Crossroads President Steven Law told Politico.

Law and others want to avoid what has become known as the “Todd Akin problem” in some GOP circles. Republicans lost two high-profile Senate battles last year in which their candidate had expressed controversial views on social issues. …

It was not a controversial position on a social issue, it was the awkward words they choose to describe the position.

No time like the present to mock Rove. ‘Conservative Defeat Project’. I like that. That’s exactly what it is.

Rove wants to avoid the "Todd Akin Problem" by clinging to the "Mitt Romney Problem". The only problem Todd Akin had was having his "republican allies" turn their backs on him and help the democrats sink him. The only problem Mitt Romney had was spending his entire political career acting like a liberal and still expecting support from conservatives. Rove is on the wrong side of this issue. I wouldn't shed a tear if this mistake ends his career.

To hell with Rove and the rest of the RINOS. He is the cause of all of this and helped in the failure of the Bush presidency. I’m SICK of the ‘big tent’ mentality to try to appease to the frikkin’ MSM. ENOUGH!

If you notice......people were on FIRE when the ‘pugs in the Primary talked TOUGH (and then they damned well better act on it).

That’s where we are as a society, today, I’m afraid. It’s about ‘trash talkin’’.....not playing “Mr. Squish”. These are HARD times and people are suffering.

Rove has gone full bore big-government, open-borders, pro-homogenized-culture-of-death RINO (guess he always was).

more like ‘preserve the establishment republicans’.

and they think because they’re republican other republicans will give them cover. and they will because there are people here even, that will say don’t criticize them, they’re our side.

I agree that elections were lost because the “wrong” candidate were chosen. One of them was Romney.

Here’s a suggestion for Rove. Why not join us. It’s idiots like you, Rove, who lost the elections by speaking out against those you deemed to be the wrong candidates. What makes you think you have the right to tell me how to vote? I’m not a liberal.

Rove’s moderates stand for nothing and they lose elections.

We’re not voting for unprincipled, squishy moderates, promoted and funded by Rove.

Take Rove’s advice and do the exact opposite.

No. It was kinda controversial in that Akin said, “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something: I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be of the rapist, and not attacking the child.”

The rape victim’s body “has ways to try to shut that whole thing down?!?” Um...yeah...

That said, I think we do need to be a bit more careful who we pick to represent us. Our candidates need to be better prepared for the intense media scrutiny that’s solely reserved for Republicans. We want conservatives, but they better be prepared to wisely articulate their positions in a hostile environment.

It was 100% because these gutless TRAITORS betrayed them and attacked them and did NOT vote for them. Had THEY aka Karl Rove not attacked Sharon Angle, Joe Miller, Todd Akin, et al, they ALL would have WON.

This PAC is nothing but Socialists in GOP clothing.

Admittedly, hoof and mouth disease is not a plus, in a political climate of slick and shiny oratory.

Akin untangled his brain from his tongue, and reconstructed the statement and the theory behind it, but it was too late for him, as Republicans devour their own. Democrats rehabilitate their criminals and then the media drives it home for them.

Our candidates need two things to win, they are first to be conservative on the issues, and second they must be intelligent. If our candidates come short on one of these two tests, they will lose. We also have to be honest with ourselves when looking back at some of the losing candidates we have put up. In same way we want to avoid RINO’s, we must also avoid DUMMIES. Two great candidates that won in the last two cycles are Rand Paul and Ted Cruz. Both are great on the issues, but just as importantly they are articulate and intelligent. Their intelligence is apparent when they speak. I say more like Ted Cruz, less like Christine O’Donnell. If we ignore the intelligence factor in our candidates, we are destined to lose.

The dirty secret is out in the open now.

Rove, the Bushes and most of the Republican people we elect are not what they say they are.

The big money wants big government, open borders and world government.

Its easier for these big companies to do business when the laws are the same everywhere.

Follow the big money that comes into the politicians and PAC’s.

That money wants more liberal policies than the rest of us out here in the real world want.
