Study: Earthworms May Contribute to Global Warming [Invasion of the Worms]

As environmentalists and politicians fret about man-made Global Warming, they may be ignoring another culprit: earthworms. According to a new study by an international team of researchers, earthworms could be contributing to global warming.
The study looked at results from 237 separate experiments from published stories to explore earthworms’ role in affecting global warming.
“Our results suggest that although earthworms are largely beneficial to soil fertility, they increase net soil greenhouse-gas emissions,” according to the study’s abstract.
Worms affect how much carbon dioxide is produced in the soil and how much escapes into the atmosphere...

I think the biggest cause of Global Warming is a-hole like these and other scientists bloviating about their own guesses.
My guess is as good as theirs or better. We are in a warming cycle because of the sun and the usual cycles the earth goes through, and there isn’t a damned thing we can do about it. We are insignificant in the works of nature.
We have been through these cycles nefore and will go through themn again.

Fits right in with the program I just saw on the Science Channel where they claimed global warming causes volcanoes.
I guess you really can't fix stupid.

So what? They are SUPPOSED to do that. They are breaking down decaying plant matter to make nutrients for the next generation of plants.
CO2 is one of those nutrients, it just happens to be airborne.
If not earthworms, it's beetles and micro organisms doing the same thing.
It has to happen. Removing earth worms won't change that.

The quantity of lunacy regarding carbon dioxide just keeps growing.
There is a thing called “the carbon cycle.” All organisms emit CO2 as a function of their metabolic processes. Plants and other photosynthesizing organisms use that CO2 to make carbohydrates and other biological molecules. Other organisms eat the photosynthesizers, passing the carbon compounds up the food chain.
It’s a big, important cycle. Without it, life would not exist. Trying to remove all CO2 from the earth will have a major negative effect on life. The fact that people are hysterical enough about “global warming” that they are willing to try to remove CO2 without even stopping to consider that it’s a necessary component of life is mind-boggling.

Consider our Moon, which is basically an inert ball of rock, with no greenhouse gasses in an orbit around the Sun about the same as our own. On the side of the moon that the Sun is shining on, the temperature reaches 260⁰ Fahrenheit. On the dark side of the Moon, it gets very cold, -280⁰ Fahrenheit. This gives an average temperature of about -10⁰ Fahrenheit, rather than the global average of 59⁰ Fahrenheit. Greenhouse gasses are what keep our planet habitable.
