Romney: ‘It kills me’ not to be in White House
yahoo ^ | march 3, 2013 | Dylan Stableford

Posted on 03/03/2013 10:10:39 AM PST by lowbridge

Mitt Romney says it "kills" him that he's not president. But he doesn't blame Superstorm Sandy, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie or anything else on his loss to President Barack Obama--except his campaign's failure to connect with minority voters.

“I lost my election because of my campaign," Romney said on "Fox News Sunday" in his first television interview since his November defeat, "not because of what anyone else did."

The former Massachusetts governor refused place blame on Christie, who some Republicans say elevated Obama in his embrace of the president in the wake of the storm.

Romney said his inability to win over black and Hispanic voters--and the damage done by those disastrous "47 percent" comments--ultimately derailed his White House bid.

Ann Romney, though, pointed the finger at the fourth estate. “It was not just the campaign’s fault," Ann Romney said. "I believe it was the media's fault as well, in that he was not being given a fair shake--that people weren’t allowed to really see him for who he was. ... I’m happy to blame the media.”

She added: “I totally believe at this moment, if Mitt were there in the office, that we would not be facing sequestration right now."

“Why all the obfuscation? What did you learn from the last election?”

I learned:

RINOmney took an amazing opportunity and turned it into failure.

Mormon candidates in the general election still repel many voters - even when facing an opponent as hated as Obama.

Money and bribery can buy endorsements, but can’t guarantee a win.

You can’t win an election while alienating your base.

Even if you run a candidate that thinks he is in line for godhood, not everyone will bow before his exaltedness now - heathen!

The GOPe loves their RINOs and expects conservatives to shut up and vote.

Romney didn't run the voting machines or force voters to accept 4 more years of Obozo.

You being one of the most obvious. I remember when Roman Catholics were suspect. How about those holy roller Southern Baptists?

"It's relatively easy for presidents to get on the outs with their denominations," says Wake Forest University Divinity School Dean Bill J. Leonard. It's hard to find a 20th-century president who didn't butt heads with some in his faith: ...Richard Nixon, a nominal Quaker, was strongly opposed by that pacifist faith over the Vietnam War. ...Ultimately, Southern Methodist University ethicist Robin Lovin says, politicians' moral judgments are influenced far less by today's church pronouncements than by their religious upbringing. The sermons, discussions and Sunday school classes in their home congregations many years ago may be their guide.

You can’t win an election while alienating your base.

United we stand, divided we FAIL. Who is this base to whom you refer? The uncompromising holier-than-thou whiners and complainers? When are you going to present the right wing conservative Christian you believe could have won the 2012 election and who do you believe would make the best candidate for 2016? Why do you run from the question?

RINOmney, the failed RINO candidate, offered little, connected little, and didn’t take it to Zero. ALL RINOmney’s fault.

My point was that a multitude of surveys, over more than a decade, have said about 20% of voters are far less likely to vote for a Mormon. We saw that put to the test and validated.

You sure whine a lot in the posts on this thread. You asked what we learned in ‘12. I have my list.

I have no favorite in ‘16. I don’t even know who is running. I will tell you I’m not a RINO-Plantation voter, so I hope some great choices run. If they don’t, prepare for the Hildabeast.

Do you already have a favorite?

Hmmmmmmm....... I’ve never considered whether two people could be one and the same. Tell me more about this theory of yours...

He offered an alternative to Zero. Did Zero offer you something or connect with you?

20% of voters are far less likely to vote for a Mormon

As opposed to the percentage of blacks and Hispanics that won't vote for a white if a minority is a candidate?

You sure whine a lot

Your interpretation is laughable.

I have no favorite in ‘16

I’ve never considered whether two people could be one and the same.

You're so naive as to believe one person couldn't have two or more accounts and handles?

“He offered an alternative to Zero. Did Zero offer you something or connect with you?”

The contrast between RomneyCare and Obamacare was certainly compelling...

“I didn’t ask if you had a favorite, did I? When are you going to present the right wing conservative Christian you believe could have won the 2012 election and who do you believe would make the best candidate for 2016? Why do you run from the question?”

Do you talk to yourself like this regularly? It seems slightly odd in a post.

I have no idea who would “make the best candidate for 2016.” Clearly, only individuals who run are potential nominees. Out of those, I suspect there is no “best”. All I can tell you is that your odds of the Republicans running a “best” candidate is close to zero. I would settle for 75-80% “best”.

Have you identified someone you think is the “best candidate for 2016?”

If so, please share...

When did RomneyCare become federal law?

Do you talk to yourself like this regularly

The questions were plainly directed to you. Your obfuscation and spin are puzzling since you claim to be conservative. I'll ask one more time, "When are you going to present the right wing conservative Christian you believe could have won the 2012 election"?

Have you identified someone you think is the “best candidate for 2016?”

No. I wasn't pleased with the choices in 2012, but I sure as hell didn't want 4 more years of Obozo.

I hardly ever post on threads but your responses are fascinating.

What is a “right wing conservative Christian”?

There are patriots who maybe Christian.
Clearly patriots are Americans, conservative has nothing to do with it, in the broader sense.
Anyone, who believes in the Constitution would be a patriot, they may or may not be a Christian or as identified by you as a conservative.
So what is in your mind a “right wing conservative Christian”, as opposed to an American who believes in the Constitution.

I do find you interesting, and apparently very confused.

And yet, you’ve not indicated your ideal (best) candidate for 2016, if you have one...

I’ve told you I do not have one.

I'm attempting to find out. If you read the thread, you'll find not a single respondent has been willing to identify one.

If you wolf, do not know what a “right wing conservative Christian” is, why is it that you assume other people know?
Come one kiddo, define one.
I know what I have already told you, I know none.
What I have said is that I know conservatives who are Christians, and I know no right wing ones.
Please, define what you are talking about - k?

As I have said before, none because Romney (your guy) distorted and lied about their records, of all conservatives running.
Some of these people were Christians.

So what are you pissing and moaning about? You had a choice between Obozo and Romney, just like the rest of us. You chose to accept 4 more years of the worst POTUS in history. Why?
