I saw an article on the Bugatti a few years ago that said its tires are only good for 6000 miles. They’re hand-made, and go for $18K per matched set.
That was then, this is now. A quick Google check reveals that a set of four tires for the 2013 Bugatti goes for $42K. I don’t know if the milage rating has been improved.
What I remember from the early days of the Veyron was Top Gear’s feature on the car. Clarkson mentioned that the car carries only enough fuel to run at top speed for twelve minutes, but that’s okay because the tires would fly apart after fifteen minutes at top speed.
As thrilling as the idea of a car that tops out at well over 200mph sounds, I have a hunch I’d still have more fun driving my humble Miata. Its limits may not be anywhere near as high, but I can get much closer to them before I draw any unwanted attention.
