This is conditioning (brainwashing) for when they get old enough to vote.

I don’t believe it’s that they can’t, but that they won’t. Competition takes pulling together, cohesion, doing it for the team, etc.; things the “good guy”, “individual” types don’t seem to be inclined toward.
