This is not education. It is indoctrination. This is a scandalous abuse of public education. But it’s not the first time this has happened, of course.
The use of public education to program “liberal” views into kids is the prime reason that home schooling has grown in popularity. In promoting socialism, alternative lifestyles, junk science, and anything which downgrades traditional American values, the Left has alienated a lot of parents. The Left has dominated public education for several generations in America, and has destroyed what was once a cornerstone of our society.
It's deplorable. If conservatives are willing to hand over their children, their own children, to the leviathan state in exchange for free babysitting, one can only despair.
But there is a ray of hope. The number of homeschoolers continues to grow. My guess is that the percentage of homeschoolers (registered and unregistered) is now closing in on 4%. That would be up from 2% ten years ago, and would be beginning to approach the percentage of children in private schools (10%).
I expect continued rapid growth. Everyone now seems to know homeschooled children, who are the best advertisement for homeschooling. The media can't spin that.
I don't expect that more than 15% of families to homeschool in the foreseeable future. But that's enough to change our culture. They will become our society's leaders, and the tip of the counter-revolutionary spear.
They'll eat Marxist tree-huggers for breakfast.

No one said that it's possible for everyone to homeschool.
Some parents are divorced. Some parents are divided on the issue.
Other than that, what? It's unaffordable?
How will a child, raised to be virtuous, live his life? What is a dutiful, honest, grounded, moral son or daughter worth to you?

Global warming and condoms on cucumbers, or a Christian upbringing. God tells us what the results are going to be. Who can afford the former?
Public education **IS** an abuse. Public education has **always** been an abuse.
It was a progressive idea in the beginning. Teacher training and curriculum development has **always** been in the control of leftists and they have **always** been pushing the envelop of societal ethics and mores. Why?
Government owned and run schooling is the very definition of a socialist-funded, single-payer, compulsory-use, police-enforced, price-fixed monopoly cartel!
Children since the beginning ( mid-1800s to early 1900s) risked learning to be comfortable with socialist, single-payer, price-fixed, monopoly cartels and government compulsion.
Government schooling has never been more than generically Protestant in its worldview and, now, is utterly GODLESS! Children **will** learn to think and reason godlessly if they are to cooperate in the godless classroom.
All it took to give the nation Franklin D. Roosevelt was one to three generations of socialist-entitlement K-12 schooling.
