D.C. to Beijing: Stand Down on Cyber

Under pressure from American industry to curb Chinese cyber attacks, White House national security adviser Thomas Donilon warned China on Monday that the United States will defend its computer networks from the attacks.

Donilon said U.S. businesses share serious concerns “about sophisticated, targeted theft of confidential business information, and proprietary technologies through cyber intrusions emanating from China on an unprecedented scale,” in a speech on Asia.

“The international community cannot afford to tolerate such activity from any country,” he told a meeting of the Asia Society in New York. “As the president said in the state of the union, we will take action to protect our economy against cyber-threats.”

More "huff and puff" from an administration who generally does appears to not be responsible for anything and particularly with regard to foreign affairs (except to promote ISLAM).

Since we can’t recover the intellectual property and we owe China so much lets just tell them they just bought the intellectual property and we zero the account balance. Perhaps this is our real plan all along.

Exactly my first thought. Burn up the wires back down the line and trash everything connected to them. We have the technology.

Hell, we send them fully documented processes to make our parts, and most times, the machines too along with training from the engineers and operators who have been running them for years - and they still turn out crap.

I agree. First you start by placing a trillion dollar tariff against any Chinese good or service that can be demonstrated to have been gained as a result of hacking. At the rate they’re going, we should be able to pay off the national debt in a few hours.
