“Check out Pima County in AZ to see what a dying county in a Red State looks like.” I could not agree with you more. We've been residents here since 2004 having escaped from Commiefornia. $230 million wasted on a project called Rio Nuevo. Streets are in severe disrepair. The city council and mayors office is a liberal joke addressing the ‘feel good’, ‘warm and fuzzy’ concerns of liberals everywhere while the city collapses. We, as conservatives, have no representation here and although we live on the far east side away from the madness of the central district, it is as if we live in a Far Side cartoon. Bizarro World has a leg up on this place. At least my fields of fire have been cleared.

I was born and raised in Tucson and I know exactly what you are talking about. My family who hasn't passed away or moved still live there. I am 3rd a generation Arizonan.
If you have the misfortune of traveling west on 22nd Street past Kino Parkway, you will notice a new housing development going up where Matthews Chevrolet used to be. It is all Section 8 housing for welfare people! At least TPD will have a concentrated area to locate the local criminals.
