I would certainly have rated them differently.

I think Arizona in #1 place is about right, but others could be moved about. Full disclosure: I live in Arizona.
I traveled NM and AZ for many years. 14 years in NM, probably 9-10 years through South Eastern AZ (every other week).
I like the people in AZ. And the openess.
At one point I taveled 11 states and like all of them. West & Mid-West. God’s Country. And his people in most of the rural areas.
I carried a handgun in the car most of the time for 30 years. Never thought about it. Would not do that now, unless I had a valid CCW permit. I have been reluctant to put my name in that database. Not traveling now, so think invisibility makes more sense for me. The local police would give me not trouble anyways.
