WASHINGTONAmerica's lower-income workers have posted the biggest job gains since the deep 2007-09 recessionbut few are bragging. As a workforce sector, those earning $35,000 or less annually are generally pessimistic about their finances and career prospects. Many see themselves as worse off now than during the recession, a two-part Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research survey of workers and employers shows.
The survey revealed that many people at the lowest rung in the workplace view their jobs as a dead end. Half were "not too" or "not at all" confident that their jobs would help them achieve long-term career goals. And only 41 percent of workers at the same place for more than a decade reported ever receiving a promotion.

And they voted for...?
How did voting with your pocketbook benefit you
The job of a low wage worker is to figure out how to become a high wage worker. Get the training and experience you need to climb up, or die trying.
No doubt the very same people with Obama stickers plastered all over their junkers.
Why should they work?
They can get “unemployment” ad infinitum, welfare, foodstamps, housing subsidies, WIC, obamaphones, utility subsidies, etc.
Just wait till the real disaster of ObamaCare sweeps their jobs away next year, or turns them into part-time workers. Elections have consequences.
They are getting the “hope and change” they voted for. If their CIC would stop creating horrendous policies that cause the prices of everything to rise and printing more money, their money would go a lot farther but alas they can’t see beyond their own noses.
TANF SNAP foodstamps, there is a broad from a foreign country with 7 kids getting 1180 a month in food stamps alone.
And Holder APPEALS THE ASYLUM of a homeschooling family from Germany...
I honestly believe most are more conservative than you think. My salary halved after 2008 wad happy being middle income. However, 20 years working on a career and it falls away. Same for hubby. Just frustrating.
Hope and Change.
Sick of hearing that from conservatives. Worked 20 plus years i. commercial insurance. Was successful for that time. 2008 forward ,not so much. Seen many a Freeper eat their words, including myself .
Yes. people who made upwards of $100,000 a year in household income are completely fine with food stamps and projects living. /s. And people wonder why Republicans are seen as heartless. Dangit, I have worked tirelessly for our cause, but feeling frustration at thid attitude, can only imagine how those less informed feel.
Gah. I need to stop freeping on stupid smart phone. I look illiterate.
Agree. Some people simply don’t know. Until you go through it... I think that’s why they call it wisdom.
To all who voted for clown-car nobama and his liberal degenerates at all levels...
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha (ad infinitum)
What a study. Why can’t poor people be cheery and optimistic, like in a depression-era musical?
If anyone wants a job just go out and by a book on java and learn it. Most don't because "it's yucky and hard"... that is why I stay employed.
I too get tired of the condescending Freeper attitude that says “Screw you. I made it. You are defective because you haven’t. Work harder, you lazy bum.” Many of those types have pensions and government benefits.
I made a career change at 42. Went back to school and got a master’s. Am well over 50 now and the career is going nowhere. Plus, try sitting through job interviews as a bald, mid fifties, white male. Age discrimination is alive and well. We continue. We overcome. We do our best. I still have a great life.
There are no guarantees that an education or working harder will do squat for anyone in this crappy economy. These smug freeper bastards have no compassion because they already have theirs, and they are so smart and competent while everyone else is deficient, stupid, or lazy. It gets old.
