Im calling Gov. Hickenlooper endangered for a reason: he just made a rather poor life choice. You see, the fellow bowed to pressure from East Coast liberals and signed into law today an effective firearms ban masquerading as a high capacity magazine ban. John Hickenlooper is apparently just self-aware enough to realize what problems this is going to cause him down the line: [Hickenlooper] said his office later today will release a signing statement to try to explain how the bills, particularly one that limits ammunition rounds, should be interpreted.
If youre explaining, youre losing. And heres why Hickenlooper is explaining:
A longer version of state senator Kevin Lundbergs points here. The short version is that the legislators who constructed the high capacity magazine ban either didnt know or didnt care that new standard ten round magazines are easily convertible into larger magazines, which makes them just as subject to the new law as the larger ones. As well as the guns that need those magazines in order to operate. That means Coloradans technically now cant buy em, cant sell em, cant even transfer em to other people in Colorado*. The whole thing is pretty much an exercise in demonstrating why you dont let Democrats write legislation unless its on something that they know something about, like increasing minority unemployment**.
Amusingly, Hickenlooper thinks that this wont hurt him in the next election:
For all of their fervor, Hickenlooper sees the demonstrators a small minority. Not only do they not represent the middle, I dont think they represent the Republican party. I dont think they represent a large number of people, Gov. Hickenlooper said.
Oh, dear.
Oh, dear, oh dear, oh dear. There are many things that social conservatives, defense hawks, small-government types, and libertarians disagree on. The Second Amendment is generally not one of them. So, no, Im pretty sure that the folks upset about these new limitations to their civil rights actually do represent the Republican party. And I suspect that in 2014 theres not going to be a repeat of the [Colorado***] GOPs 2010 internal meltdown
To all Coloradans:
Change.org is organizing to start organizing to create a recall petition. 445,000 signatures are required to force Hickenlooper to stand in a recall election. Here is the URL for the organization effort:
This afternoon there were 2,000+ signatures. Tonight, the signatures have grown to over 3,500 signatures. The lines have been drawn and the battle ground is set. I choose to stand with the citizens of Colorado and with our God given rights.
Will you join our cause?
Because of your contacts, I ask that you read post #21 and pass the word. We are organizing to get a recall petition in place. Please, pass the URL on to your friends in Colorado.
Yes, Denver Post polls are/were manipulated. Hickenlooper had it easy (only about 51%) because of a three way election with Tom Tancredo - Constitution party, and Dan Maes -R, in the meltdown 2010 election.
Hickenlooper didn't do much to win it because Tancredo and Maes were too busy fighting each other.
Hick is TOAST!
We have at least 4 very viable candidates.
Some with other options, so I won’t preempt their decisions.
The dumbest thing the Colorado GOP is to run that ballot measure this year.
That ballot measure MUST be held until 2014 as incentive to turn out the vote!
I’d hide and watch what the other hand is doing. What they’re saying is one thing, watch what they do as those efforts re-appear as amendments to something else they’re trying to pass at midnight. This whole thing is not over by a long shot at either the fed or state level.
Lickenpooper needs to call his nanny Bloomberg. His diaper needs changed.
In the end though, we shouldn't have to worry about a blatant attack on our Bill of Rights no matter who wins any election. We have a government that is infested with those who hate our Constitution, and they bypass it all the time. We have no chance in the long run unless we rid our government of those tyrants. Even if we are lucky enough to win elections in a broken system, where fraud by the left is rampant, it doesn't mean anything in the long run when we will eventually just elect tyrants like we have now, and then we try to stop them by playing by rules they aren't constrained by.
We have to fix that problem for any real hope, and that's not a simple task. I don't see how that's even possible without a collapse of the government first. That could lead anywhere. We still have to do something to have any chance, and we may not have any path that can save us at this point. We have to admit how bad off we are, but we should fight tooth and nail to save our country. Not slow things down temporarily, but make great changes that save it for future generations. If we fail it's where we're headed anyway. We have nothing to lose.

Just get a good candidate to primary this moron and the my check is in the mail.
And Bite Me came to Colorful Colorado and by the time he left seven Jacks/and-or Jennies changed their vote on the gun measures. I hear promised support of any Dem who supported the slave production plan and some threat that the Obamanation would actively campaign against any renegade who strayed from their plantation on the slave issue.
Hickenlooper doesn’t care. He’s running for President, not Governor. Signing these bills is his first swing at getting the Dem nomination. He thinks he doesn’t need Colorado to win the presidency.
Good for you. People that volunteer their free time to fight against the enemies of this country are true heroes!
Thank you. Much appreciated.
Try to avoid online petitions. Often they are just data mines to collect your information. They are otherwise meaningless. If you go back to the main page of this petition, it looks like they have petitions for just about anything. All of them, meaningless.
He’s not nearly endangered enough in my view.
