“While I support and respect Mark Kelly’s 2nd Amendment rights to purchase, possess, and use firearms in a safe and responsible manner, his recent statements to the media made it clear that his intent in purchasing the Sig Sauer M400 5.56mm rifle from us was for reasons other then [sic] for his personal use,” Douglas MacKinlay, owner of Diamondback Police Supply, said in the post.

Read the form in link 7, read the instructions on page 4 of the form.

Sorry, the link's in post 8.

Personally, I feel like I’m defending common sense (and reading comprehension) from a mob.

You have every right to defend gun-grabbers and irresponsible dog owners. Acting like you’re better than “a mob” is your decision. The snotty remarks about “reading comprehension” got old long ago. Do you really think the BATFE would take such a lax attitude if this wasn’t one of “theirs”?

I will spell this is out for you. H-e d-i-d n-o-t b-r-e-a-k t-h-e l-a-w.

That is a fact. If learning facts makes you lash out out those pointing them out to you makes you want to lash out, then that's something you should discuss with your psychotherapist. So take your snotty remarks and give them to someone who you pay to listen to them.

Sorry, I’ve given up arguing with idiots, even the ones who defend gun-grabbers and launch personal attacks on stranger’s supposed psychiatric condition. Go watch MSNBC and get a tingle.

Here's what you are doing: after learning an "inconvenient" fact, you start getting hot flashes. No one was talking about his dog until you brought it up. Seriously, get help.

Must be a strain on your limited mental capacities defending gun-grabbers on FR. Better double up on your anti-psychotic meds before you get committed again.

There are people here on FR defending this publicity-seeking idiot, saying he did nothing illegal.

Show me where what he did was illegal. I've provided a link to prove to you what he did was not in my post #7.

He's certainly a hypocrite, which is what we should be calling him on. The AR-15 with the 30-round mag wasn't the only thing he wanted to buy. He actually purchased a 1911 in .45 ACP, as well. He took it home that very day, presumably after completing a 4493 for that purchase.

He may not have technically violated the law by making straw purchase, but I seriously doubt the BATFE would take such a lassez-faire view if he were not an anti-gun “celebrity”.

Things are done differently in my neck of the woods. No money changes hands unless a form 4473 is filled out.

Form 4473 says that the NICS check should be done immediately prior to the transfer, and if the transfer takes place later, there must be a re-check immediately prior to the transfer.

So, you can sell the firearm before you transfer it, and then do the 4473 at the time of transfer.

This accommodates a waiting period, which many states have.

It also accommodates online sales, where the gun is sold first, and then picked up later via an FFL holder.
