I think it wouldn’t. When I visited Temple Square a few years ago, the tour guides were mostly young women. I asked them about that and they said, “no way!”

Now yes, there are news stories about various Mormon communities having polygamy.

At the very least, there would be a schism in the LDS.

Maybe, but LDS is a pretty “top-down” religion, meaning that the opinion of the average member doesn’t count for much when it comes to doctrine. If their prophets and council members declared that polygamy was acceptable again, some might leave the church, but I don’t think there would be a schism.
