The generals know china will most likely back their play. In fact there’s a good chance china is telling nk to do this.

Purely from cost/benefit analysis, it’s cheaper to bribe the North Korean leadership than to “provoke” them to shell artillery shells (potentially over Seoul).

“Picture 24 year old punks you know, then add spoiled insane comminist dynasty, Dennis Rodman, and nukes.

And in 5 years, a lot more missiles and nukes.”

And right now, a US president and Congress who give North Korea NOTHING to fear.

What’s the name of that movie where a small country declares war on the US to get rebuilt?

Let’s say NK drops a nuke, launches its artillery barrage, and drives to the southern tip of the Korean Peninsula. The Chinese and Russians oppose us.

How certain are you that Barack Obama launches a nuclear war and full scale invasion?

Honestly, that is what concerns me. NK starts something, China and Russia just HAVE to get involved doncha know and then here we go.

I fear they are using the NORKS to start what either one or both want.

North Korea has been chosen as the advanced guard.

There will be war.

However short... and North Korea will suffer greatly.

But while we are licking our wounds, the 2nd wave will come.

How naive we are.

North Korea announced Saturday that it has entered a state of war against South Korea.

Might I suggest that South Korea take them at their word and turn the north to rubble?

The reason that you get "sneak attacks" is the good guys sit around with their thumbs up their butt waiting for the other side to make the first move.

Evil succeeds because the good have been taught that they should be stupid.

Believe me, if China thought for a minute that the hermit king was going to “start something,” China would take him out.

With Obama,You can’t be certain about anything other than what he will do will NOT be in the best interest of the American People or the United States.

When was the last time we had a world war start by direct aggression? Napoleon? What I mean to say is that there’s really nothing being done to aggress the NorKs. I guess I just don’t see how this plays out to their benefit unless this is China using the NorKs as a patsy to test the military readiness of the USA and her allies.

“The Mouse that Roared.” If the order is given to launch,I’m sure that those missiles will be turned to molten metal, boiling on the rails.

I don’t think so. China has too much to lose at the present time.

a very polite word from China - you take this beyond bluster and you’re on your own - would help him chose NOT to take it beyond bluster

however, the big IF is that China did not give such a polite warning when NK blew up a SK naval warship not so long ago

and now SK govt and public are less include to hold their powder over another such incident

the worst thing the U.S. can do?

would be to use this occasion to think it needed to offer the NK anything, “talks” or anything

what NK needs to be offered for its belicosity is mostly that it be ignored as much as possible

If they ever mean it for real...it will start with a rain of artillery and rocket fire on Seoul.

The whole thing could be one last hurrah before the inevitable (collapse) happens. Kind of like ending it on their terms rather than ‘ours’.

"It’s all rhetoric. It’s been nothing but rhetoric for over 50 years. Why would this time be any different?"

Well, North Korea sunk a South Korean corvette a couple of years ago and killed about 50 South Korean sailors. I wonder if something like that happened now, if a real shooting war would break out?
