Powerball winner Pedro Quezada is hosting a rent party for his entire block.
A close friend of the newly minted megamillionaire said Quezada promised to temporarily cover the housing costs for residents in the Passaic, N.J., neighborhood that housed his bodega.
He said hes going to pay the rent for everybody here on this block for at least a month or two months, the friend said Saturday outside Quezadas Apple Deli Grocery. Hes such a good guy.
Word of Quezadas magnanimous gesture left several of his neighbors stunned.
God bless him, and thank you, crowed Richard Delgado, 45, after learning of the pledge.
John Koblarzs eyes lit up when he heard Quezada had offered to cover his neighbors rents.
But then the 78-year-old landlord came to his senses.
Oh, he can't afford to pay mine, Koblarz said. Mine is $20,000. I own the building!

Ok. Any wagers as to when he’ll be another tragic lottery winner story?
If my rent were over $600 would I need to put this on tax return and pay tax on the “gift”?
August.
Yes you would!
It sure seems to be heading that way, don’t it.
He now has "rob me" painted all over him by the local thugs.

Nice man, but he really needs some good financial advice.
BIG MISTAKE!!
The money can go real fast and this lottery winner is not doubt burning through it fast.
I was just thinking the same. He’ll be broke in 5 years. Soon he will have more “friends” than grains of sand on a beach.
Rags to riches to prison in record time I suppose.
26 years in America and he can’t speak English. And he owed $29,000 in child support. What a great Latino role model
Nice guy, but within 5 years he’ll be bankrupt or dead. Or both.
Sounds like he’ll be another lottery winner who’s broke in 10yrs
Absolutely. The first piece of advice that financial advisers, who give advice to lotto winners, is get out of town for 6 months. Have a pre-paid credit card balance of $30,000 to $50,000 and leave.
Go anywhere.
Thats ok. Theres a welfare check waiting for him right after. Its the (new) American way.
People like this that win the lottery need to leave the country and stay on the DL for a couple of years until all the parasites forget about them.
He doesn’t know how hated he’s going to be.
Why can’t he just keep paying my rent.
Why can’t he help me with my car payments.
My mom, she has problems making her rent. And she just had an accident...
This never ends well.
No you can gift people up to $12,000 a year without any problems.
Nope. Such stories never end well.
