Thanks for the Ping, FF!

The Cornus Florida ""Cherokee Princess" White Flowering Dogwoods are opening fast and many are in full bloom.

The Pinks (CF "Rubra") and Reds (CF "Indian Chief") will soon follow, hre in PA; if you're 1-2hrs south, they may already be blooming.

Multiple stabbings at Lone Star College on Cyfair campus - Cyfair is kind of like a Houston suburb in that the two cities are so close.

Radio news and CNN reporting 14 stabbings, some very serious.

I wonder if this was an "assault" knife or "scary-looking" knife.

Let's see if government takes this up re: it doesn't always take a gunholder to kill or maim.

It is the shooter's intent or need to kill - the gun doesn't just jump up and do it. Let's look carefully at real issues re: gun laws.

That happened about 2 miles from my house. From what I am hearing, it was an X-acto type knife. Something that you might legitimately have at school for an art class or something. The motive is unknown. The perp sounds like a real odd-ball.

A More Perfect Union Video $3.00

Become an eyewitness to the Constitutional Convention of 1787.

This stirring 2-hour film will bring the Founding Fathers to life as you witness the struggles and the miracles that produced the Constitution of the United States and the freest nation on earth.

Filmed on location at Independence Hall; Williamsburg, Virginia; and other historical sites, it dramatically chronicles how America became a nation. It is exciting drama of the best kind-fact, rather than fiction. “It brings the history books to life,” writes one reviewer. “Dramatically moving, and visually handsome,” says another. Officially recognized by the Commission on the Bicentennial of the United States Constitution, who cited the film as being “of exceptional merit.”

The Plains & Midwest are getting hammered by a late Spring snowstorm/blizzard.

I remember back in '92, when we got a 2" freak snow and below-30°F on May 2nd, and lost a lot of seedling crops which hadn't "hardened-off" yet.

Mother Nature's in charge; we're just along for the ride.

We’ve been getting our share of warming and still coming down, on the way to around 8 inches. Ne panhandle.

"That happened about 2 miles from my house. From what I am hearing, it was an X-acto type knife."

I heard it was an X-acto type knife, too.

Being as close as you were to the school could you hear police and ems alarms or any alert that the area what was going on? I can't think of how people could be contacted...maybe emails?

That's why I was asking about emergency alarms. Would people recognize that as an emergency? Maybe a different alarm sound that means "hunker down, shelter in place"....something danger in your neighborhood. Check your email or call the dedicated alarm system

What an I thinking - the alarm system would just be used by the gov't to restrict people's locations or follow them a drone or something... Two miles from your house...shudder.

Is the school a "gun free" zone?

I propagated that tree 23yrs ago, from softwood cuttings from one of my many Dogwood cultivars, for the Mahoneys, who have a nearby Farm, and an arboretum, which I started for them on a separate 50ac.

Good grief, I just closed-down the condo, turned-on the AC. I don't have any towering Elms or Oaks to provide shade anymore for the south/north-facing unit, and it's 82°F inside the house. Sucks to be me.

I remember some Aprils in the mid-2000s when it hit 95-97°F, and new plant growth wilted badly, until the temps dropped and rains came.

It’s a gun free zone.

My wife took some classes there a year or so ago and she is still on the alert list. She got one text warning about the attack and another one a while later when the school was off lock-down.

wow. just gorgeous. Thanks so much for sharing. Cherry trees are blooming here in Nashville. Dogwoods not yet. Saw one of your “magnolias” today that you mentioned last night. Full bloom. Just beautiful.... sigh. And with that I am reminded of how much yardwork needs to be done.....
