As someone who summered in Maine as a kid, Maine is not LIBERAL, if you go into Portland and Lewiston, you'll see the LIBERALS, but the small towns are the home of American Values.
Yes, maybe Maine is not as conservative as Texas, but it is a LIBERTARIAN state (that's why gay marriage is law), the population thinks it should be up to the states -- not the feds.
