A 65-year-old man photographed following the terror attack at the Boston Marathon in a wheel chair, his face covered in blood and screaming in agony as a medical worker cares for his wounded leg, may lose his sight and suffer brain damage as his wife remains on a respirator.
Eric Whalley was at the race with his wife, Ann, when the two bombs went off near the finish line.
Their son, Richard, saw the now iconic picture of his father posted on the internet and frantically tried to find out whether his parents were alive.

I don’t want to see the images so I am not going past here. I just wanted to say that who ever did this is just evil. What is the point of hurting people killing little children what does it get them does it fulfill their lives?

I’m so pissed that these people, who were doing nothing other than supporting family and friends — and strangers, too — had their lives completely changed in an instant by radical sociopaths bent on terrorizing us all.
We have to catch these guys, and commit to helping the injured as they recover.

Words matter, and “atrocity” is more apt than “tragedy”. An accident can be tragic — this was no accident, it was an atrocity.
He survived and provided a description of the bomber to police.
