A 65-year-old man photographed following the terror attack at the Boston Marathon in a wheel chair, his face covered in blood and screaming in agony as a medical worker cares for his wounded leg, may lose his sight and suffer brain damage as his wife remains on a respirator.

Eric Whalley was at the race with his wife, Ann, when the two bombs went off near the finish line.

Their son, Richard, saw the now iconic picture of his father posted on the internet and frantically tried to find out whether his parents were alive.

I don’t want to see the images so I am not going past here. I just wanted to say that who ever did this is just evil. What is the point of hurting people killing little children what does it get them does it fulfill their lives?
Bastards

There is also a support page for Jeff Bauman on Facebook, for any FReepers who are interested:

I’m so pissed that these people, who were doing nothing other than supporting family and friends — and strangers, too — had their lives completely changed in an instant by radical sociopaths bent on terrorizing us all.

We have to catch these guys, and commit to helping the injured as they recover.

One caller to a talk show mentioned that some people crave instant and enduring fame and this is the sickest way to do it. He suggested numbering them instead of naming the individuals. That is likely impractical as eventually these monsters will be named and maybe even have supporters. But, the caller's point is that any fame is good fame to some. Until these bleepers are caught, we may never know.

A friend just posted this story about Jeff Bauman. Apparently he helped ID the suspect: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-04-19/boston-bombing-victim-in-iconic-photo-helped-identify-attackers.html

It was the most horrific photo I have ever seen-makes my blood boil to know the perps will get away with it.

As long as we see every Islamist as innocent, the perps will get away with it.

None of them are innocent.

I just read an article about him and he said the bomber set the back pack down in front of him and he can identify him
and has.

Words matter, and “atrocity” is more apt than “tragedy”. An accident can be tragic — this was no accident, it was an atrocity.

What was left of his legs below the knees was amputated. He will survive....and I read he has a good, positive mental attitude right now.
